Hurgorn

Demographics

The Kervish are the type of people who take great pride in their work. Those who do not put forth the effort are seen as lazy and unmotivated to help the country grow and prosper. Thus, those who put the effort into their craft to become of great help to their city are often rewarded monetarily for it. Creating a culture of very hard-working citizens. For many, their work is their life, and it shows across the city. The population of Kervia consists primarily of dragonkin and dwarfs, with smaller populations of tieflings, genasi, hobgoblins, and tabaxi.

Government

The Peaks of Kervia are under a newly appointed democracy. Granting each individual the choice to vote for the next Khan of Kervia. Winning in an overwhelming landslide, Torglia Stonefist was appointed the next Khan of Kervia. The Kervish were wary of putting themselves in a potential position to be under another corrupt government. While Torglia is the ruler of the country, each city within The Peaks has also elected two individuals from each city to represent the people. Ensuring a single ruler won't undo the country. Amrak Bolas, a Copper Dragonborn, and Hezmig Wraithaxe, a dwarf, serve Hurgron alongside the Khan.

Defences

Outside of the natural defenses of being built within a mountain, Hurgron is surrounded by a mote of lava that the Kervish prepared when they created the initial aqueduct system. This mote remains hidden under dozens of feet of hardened obsidian. However, in the four corners of the city within the post, there are four massive wheels. That, if turned at the same time, will move the obsidian floor surrounding the city, leaving the city appear as if it is hovering over a pit of lava.

Industry & Trade

Hurgron thrives on the heavy trade the city has with almost all of the other cities. Hurgron is one of the largest suppliers of gems and metals. If it weren't for the discovery of Aredite Hurgron and the peaks, they could potentially have a monopoly on the market for gems and metals. Whether it's selling metals to The Ember Isles for weapons and armor or selling gems to The Golden Moor to feed the churches need for expensive jewelry, the city will use that money to pay for a large portion of the city's needs.

Infrastructure

Hurgron is an incredibly wealthy city built inside the largest stretch of mountains within the Peaks. The city is home to a system of naturally running laves that the Kervish have used obsidian to create a path that passes through the city. The point of this lava aqueduct system is not only to keep the city and its people warm in the harsh cold of Kervia but also to provide heat sources to the many smiths that reside all throughout the city. With most running water being frozen within the Peaks 3/4's of the year, the Kervish have created a system to melt and filter snow and ice to provide water for their country. Hurgron is the city it was first implemented in.

Assets

Built within the Mountains of Kervia, Hurgron has a vast amount of natural metals, gems, and minerals available to be mined just miles from the city. The population of Hurgron is home to many incredibly skilled miners and smiths because of this. These gems have value in almost every other country. Whether it is for magical use or simply as a sign of wealth, Due to this, Kervia has many skilled gem cutters, blacksmiths, and traders. Hurgron produces some weapons, but they are not the top item in the city.

History

Though Hurgron was not the founding city of the country, it quickly became one of the busiest. From hollowing out a safe place to build the city to building the actual city itself, Creating all the Smithy's, the lava aqueduct system, homes, castles, etc. The amount of work needed to make the city happen was massive, and unfortunately, those who did the work were rarely treated well. Many non-Dragonkin were forced to either partake in the construction of the city or the mining after its completion. Both are very dangerous and difficult jobs. A great deal of innocent dwarves, humans, and halflings lost their lives to this work, and rarely were the families properly compensated. Years of mistreatment and resentment led to a revolution within the country.
