The Peaks of Kervia
Structure
Kervia is the first kingdom in Agodale to adopt democracy as its form of government. Giving every individual citizen the ability to vote on who their new leader would be. Previously ruled by an oligarchy, the common folk began to be treated poorly, and much of the nobility and dragonkin saw the change happening, so they forced a change. Wanting equality for the people of Kervia, a change to democracy was made. After first electing a ruler, the population will begin voting on council members to assist their newly elected Khan in her duties. Kervia consists of mostly dragonkin and dwarves, with a smaller population of humans, half-orcs, and some genasi.
Culture
Kervia is a place where individuals take a great deal of pride in the work they do, regardless of what it is. It is seen as a great success to be complimented on the work you do or to have others wish to purchase your work or labor. In the same vein, those who take little to no pride in their work are generally disrespected by the other citizens as seen as leeches upon the kingdom. While the Kervish are neither selfish nor entitled, they believe that everyone in a kingdom is a part of a huge wheel, and every spoke needs to pull their weight for the wheel to turn and stay in tact. Due to this outlook, Kervia is home to many incredibly skilled craftsmen, warriors, and mages.
Public Agenda
Kervia's agenda has undergone massive changes within the last few years. The Kervish now wish to be a beacon of hope for the other kingdoms in Agodale. "You can live in peace with the dragons while not being slaves to them. You can be on equal footing with them." -Torglia Stonefist
Assets
Kervia is one of the wealthiest kingdoms in Agodale. They are surrounded by mountains with a plethora of gemstones and unrefined minerals within them. The Dwarven population of Kervia is incredibly skilled at mining and harvesting these materials. These gems have value in almost every other country. Whether it is for magical use or simply as a sign of wealth, Due to this, Kervia has many skilled gem cutters, blacksmiths, and traders. Kervia also produces an enormous amount of weapons, despite not being too inclined towards war.
History
In the past, Kervia has been ruled by an oligarchy. Throughout the history of the kingdom, the oligarchy has been relatively successful. Even allowing dwarfs to be on the council from time to time, but most of the power and control remained with the dragonkin. The oligarchy tended to have a tight grip on the country, but they very rarely acted with malicious intent towards their citizens. The majority of the time, the oligarchy was well received by the people because they were acting fairly, constantly growing the country, and pushing it forward. However, about 300~ years after the Reckoning, the oligarchy began to change significantly. Members of the council became corrupt and biased. Treating the non-Dragonkin like half breeds and accepting bribes from other countries or wealthy individuals to enact laws that were unjust. While not everyone in the oligarchy took part in this enough to swing any vote, Many of the noble families and the few just rulers on the council saw this happening. Seeing the direction the country was heading, a revolution began, and with many of the great dragon families on the side of the revolution, it succeeded. Thus, democracy was born in Kervia.
