The Lone Jaguar

During her time, Setsuka was once one of the greatest independent assassins in The Continent, with the majority of them being from either The Azure Owls or The Shadow Claws of Azhak. She was associated with neither, not being forced to adhere to either of their strict rules, but did not have the safety or political immunity that came with the organisations. Despite this, her reputation as the Lone Jaguar spread, making her feared by all. She did not go after certain targets; she was simply paid to kill whomever the client wanted her to and her lack of discrimination made her the target of many.

Personal history

Born into a Lonely World

Setsuka was never sure whether her parents were dead or not. She likes to believe they are, as it is a much easier pill to swallow than coming to terms with than them simply abandoning her. She was instead taken to the orphanage in Zafeíri, where she was rather common, being a girl of Nashuto blood. She actually learned her ancestral language because of this, while also learning common, but often got in trouble with other children in the orphanage, being a problematic child that got into fights with others. This started to become far more of a problem when she actually became a decent fighter, even able to take down some of the adults who stepped in to try to break up the fights. Not being able to actually deal with her any longer, Setsuka was kicked out of the orphanage at the age of twelve, left to fend for herself. 

Honorary Shadow Claw

Stowing away aboard a ship headed to the mainland, Setsuka just wanted to get away from the place that she had been kept in her entire life, wanting to experience true freedom, but the open road was no place for a lone child. She found herself beset by bandits whilst she travelled from the city of Dunport to the town of Vullkack. Instead of the bandits finding her to be easy pickings, they realised that she actually knew how to defend herself, long enough for a stranger to come to her rescue, brutally executing the bandits in front of her with no remorse. This individual was once a member of the Shadow Claws, trained assassins from Azhark known for being almost machine like in approach. Despite this, this Shadow Claw took Setsuka under her wing, allowing her to join him in his nomadic lifestyle, finding it far less lonely as he lived his life away from the Shadow Claws.
Being a Shadow Claw, Setsuka's guardian was unable to speak and did not have a name, simply being assigned the name Shadow Claw. She simply referred to him as master, as he taught her the ways of assassination from the Shadow Claws, allowing her to defend herself in battle. In turn, she aided him in day to day life, as his inability to speak made socialising very difficult, so she acted as a type of translator for him, learning his sign language to communicate with him. The two grew close, forming a silent, yet unbreakable bond, with her master often referring to her as daughter; however, she was unable to ever call her father.

Alone yet Again

Shadow Claws trains in poison, knowing that it will shorten their life, as many do not live for very long anyways. Setsuka's master, having left the assassin organisation, was older than any Shadow Claw before him, making it to middle age, but his health failing as a result of his training. He ensured Setsuka would not do the same training, teaching her the use of a rope dart and the Shadow Claw martial art with the use of synthetic poison claws through the use of magic, so that she would not share his fate. He died before she reached her eighteenth birthday, leaving her all of his belongings, as well as a gift that she was told not to open until she was eighteen. She did as the note on the gift said, opening it to reveal a black, carved jaguar mask, which covered her eyes, down to the nose. 

Becoming The Lone Jaguar

Wearing the mask to conceal her identity, Setsuka utilised her training, carving out a living as a hired assassin, starting off small by being hired by commoners to kill local commoners then growing in notoriety to even assassinate aristocrats and lords. She was even hired by The Azure Owls to end the lives of those they needed to remove, while keeping their involvement as minimal as possible. No one knew of Setsuka Shuna, but everyone learned of The Lone Jaguar in time, and the next four years of her life were spent growing this reputation. This was until she took a job for Aldin Ridrose, which she hasn't returned from since, being considered missing for the last seventeen years.
