Eilean Chalum
Eilean Chalum is a ruined castle north of Phandalin located in the hills overlooking Lon Duisgil. The castle is abandoned and in a state of disrepair and dereliction. People tend to avoid the location, due to reports of strange lights at night.
Travelers and locals have stated that goblins and other strange creatures have been sighted congregating near the castle and coming and going from the location. These sightings have begun to worry locals.
Architecture
The castle originally consisted of 3 connected stone towers of two floors each. Over time the castle owners expanded the building to its current size of 7 overlapping towers.
History
No one remembers the true history of Eilean Chalum. The original castle was built long ago to protect the region during an era of war and conflict between humans and other races for dominance of the Trotternish Peninsula. Eilean Chalum served as the headquarters for the clans and humans during the conflict. Once the conflict subsided, one of the leaders of the clans took the castle as his residence. Over time the owner and his descendants renovated and expanded the castle to 7 overlapping towers.
As with much of the Trotternish Peninsula, the owners of the castle fell on economic difficulties during the Hard Times. Time, weather and other factors ravaged the castle, leaving it in its current state of disrepair and destruction.
