Ajar

the Gate of Anbar/Novyum

The kingdom of Ajar sits on the northeastern tip of the Sruo Hayden peninsula, on the major continent of Ethae. The nation, like the rest of Sruo Hadyen, has long been more connected to the Heartlands of Novyum, than Anbar. This is believed to have begun with Capedian colonist taking control of the northern region of the peninsula, and then solidified under the rise of the Republic of Lakorth, which saw the founding of Ajar as a gateway for Lakortha forces to fight against the Umaybbad Orc controlled regions. It is this that gave the nation its moniker of 'the Gate of Anbar'. At least in the Heartlands, in the nations of Anbar it is often known as 'the Gate of Novyum.' Its importance declined after the fall of the Umybbad, but the kingdom has remained as many others have come and gone.

Ajar dominates the strip of land between the Cony Sea to its east and the Satyricon Range to its west. It runs about two hundred miles north to south, and averages between ten and twenty-five miles wide, east to west. The Satyricons have stood as a natural wall of protection from land invasions throughout Ajar's history. Invasion from its eastern border along the Cony Sea has never been a concern to the kingdom with its strong alliance to the powers of mainland Novyum, leaving no real naval threat in the region. Even in the modern day with civil wars raging in Novyum, Ajar has little fear of attacks by sea, with the majority of the wars being in the Heartlands and the eastern regions. Ajar has maintained its neutrality in the fighting and kept strong ties and trades with the stronger neutral nations such as Nopum and Pryde.
