Briga

Holytown

Briga was a semi mythical village founded in the Randeny Period by Enos. It was described as being built on the slopes of a hill in Wat Qu Waten (the Cutting Mountains) near a crystal lake. The village was said to be named after Enos' wife who in some tales had passed into Genni form years before, while others she was alive to see the founding.

Much of its early construction was made of gathered stones piled atop each other, as was the building method of the period. Enos was said to have studied the buildings of Noch, having travelled there many times. Later the mud bricks became the building material for its structures. With the new brick technology, windows became a way of lighting interiors during the day.

Before the Aggelomachy very few of the Enishan lived in Briga itself, opting rather to build their brick homes in the surrounding lands of Enoshut. Briga primary acted as a gathering place for gathering and trading. That was until the Aggelomachy started.

Fighting their own kin and the Dragons they once thought as friends, the Enishan of Briga defended themselves. The stone and brick of surrounding homes were gathered to build a fortress in the heart of their community. Briga became a stronghold to fight out of. Said to be protected by Alu himself to reward the Enishan for staying loyal, Briga never was attacked directly during the war, harboring many refugees from other regions of Enish and beyond.

After the Aggelomachy

Briga was abandoned after the heavenly war and the era of ice that followed. Centuries later it would be rediscovered and settled as a temple city dedicated to Alu. Its citizens acted as priests for the faithful that came to the city in pilgrimage. The city became so wealthy from those traveling and staying within its walls, that the Briga citizens moved away from farming, focusing entirely on the city as a pilgrimage site.
