Nuna Hills (NOO nah)

the Slopes of Akavia

The steep rocky hills and grasses valleys of the Nuna Valley was once the center of western Zalpula life. The region is still salted with stones from that ancient civilization, though the hills are largely unpopulated today. The seasonal snow runoff makes the valleys of Nuna green, though the rocky soil makes for poor crop yield. Many of the hills share the same crop terraced features as Akavia's Peak. Built by Elf, these terraces cut into the sides of the hills giving many of them a blocky artificial appearance. Once used for crop growth, they are long unused, overgrown and crumbling.

Wild Hippogriff teams, descendants of Normon aerial mounts from an age past, have made the region their habitat. Most other preditors of the Areian Peaks, such as the vargs (Dire Wolf), have been killed or driven out of the Nuna Hills by these hippogriffs. They have a particular hatred for Orc, working in groups, they attack them with no mercy. Unlike other kills, of which they will take back to their nest to eat, orc bodies are left to rot. The hippogriffs avoid any Human when they can, but are generally not hostile to them, unless attack. While not aggressive to humans, the animals do not seem to like attempts at settle the region, destroying any building and supplies they can.
