The Great Library of Lor'Thal
The Great Library of Lor'Thal was founded approximately 80 years after the founding of the Aetherwind College, in response to the growing concern over the studies and knowledge held in private by the College. This culminated with a march on the college's archives by the non-college population of Lor'Thal.
In response to this march, an Elven philosopher, Adheal aer Caemihle, proposed the Open Accords, a set of rules to govern the flow of information out of the College into a centrally located and publicly-accesible library that any citizen of Lor'Thal could read. While the college's Magistar has a level of authority over what gets published into the Library, most research and college records find their way into the library.
Over the centuries, the library's pervue expanded, and began taking records of everything. Ships passing through the Port District, business ledgers filed by tax collectors, registrations of births and deaths, everything was copied and added to the ever-growing archive.
