Half Elf
Half Elves are the one of the races that resulted of interbreeding on Alterra, for all intents and purposes this is their home world.
Found exclusively in cosmopolitan city states with both Elvan and Human populations. There are stable populations of Half Elves in some cities and over time are becoming their own race.
It is believed that Elf-human relationships were rare prior to Arrival, but it was known they could breed successfully. Not separated by light years anymore and living in close proximity Half-elf is a common hybrid.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Offspring of a human and an Elf or a half elf and a half elf. Half elves that mate with either elves or humans will have offspring that are either race. Half Elves gestate for 9 months and reach adulthood around 20 years old.
Growth Rate & Stages
Half Elves reach puberty around age 14 and enter adulthood around 20. They begin to age around 150 turning grey and becoming wrinkled.

Have overall human intelligence but their emotional intelligence surpasses either human or elf and this makes them able to be very insightful about what other beings want, or intend.

Major Organizations
Twin Moons. This organization is led by half elves to make sure they are treated with respect and protected by the laws of their city state, and not treated as second class citizens. Some times they are ignored, other times laughed at, and when they are being effective, fought. They have been successful with princes to make sure half elves get a fair shake when in trouble, given a fair sentence if convicted, and that any taxes, laws or codes don't disadvantage half elves.
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Half Elves draw from both human and elven traditions, art and culture. They have similar interests and often blend the two together. Half elves may be interested in elven writing, but human adventures.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Half Elves are spanning two worlds and grow up having to negotiate two different cultures. This allows them to see many perspectives and they gravitate toward diplomacy, philosophy, and trade. They are likely to try to talk and negotiate before resorting to violence. However their human side will make them truly unpredictable in combat, and inventive in negotiations.
