Geography

continent of approximately 8.95M square miles, but called an island by the inhabitants. approximately 3800 miles across at the widest point, and 4600 miles from north to south. it sits on the equator and has a wide variety of climate ones.   The continent is being actively shaped by plate tectonics as the forces are pushing up sea bed forming a desert and pushing up new mountains in the Thymetre Mountains and the Black Spine Mountains.   The west coast is lush and ranges from tropical jungle, to forests, plains, hills and long rivers fed by plentiful rains and snow melts from those mountains.  The south of the continent is covered in thick jungles. The east coast is a massive sandy desert.   The west coast is rockier, has deeper coastal areas verses the east coast which is littered with sand bars, small low islands that can be completely flooded in severe storms.   The Black Spine Mountains are volcanic and their deposits of ash have made the interior fertile.

Ecosystem Cycles

the north third of the continent are temperate with distinct seasons, winters are cold and accompanied by significant snow falls. Spring is wet and flooding can be a problem as snow melts. Summers are dry and punctuated by strong storms occasionally if cold air dips down through the Dapha Sea. Autumn is wet and temperatures are mild. Many kinds of animals like bear, elk, moose, buffalo, lions, wolves and some dinosaur like creatures can be found in large numbers here.   The western plains from the coast to the Black Spine mountains has very short spring and autumn. The winters are cold and windy, with some snow fall. The summers are hot and have frequent thunderstorms that produce tornadoes, hail and lightning. Forest fires and brush files can be common in the autumn. These plains support large mammals, dinosaurs, and other apex predators. huge herds of buffalo and similar grazers wander these planes.   The south west coast and and southern peninsula are warm all year round. Snow very rarely falls here, and never on the peninsula. there is constant rain and humidity, and occasional storms. A variety of animals live here some migrate north in the spring, and return in winter. usually medium and smaller mammals and dinosaurs, but also lots of reptiles like alligators, snakes and turtles. The south coast is jungle and tropical forest, it supports a lot of plant animal and a variety of monsters as well.   The eastern desert is hot and dry most of the year, temperature swings from 30 F at night to 125 F during the day. Once or twice a year a hot mass of humid air will be pushed up into the desert and if that happens at night there is a frost that covers the desert which melts and for a day there may be an explosion of dormant seed and flowers. The day time air when that humid air is pushed up into the upper atmosphere will make huge thunderheads and very large storms may form when it hits the Meridian sea. There are few large animals in this desert, most are lizards, insects, birds and small mammals. This desert has an occasional oasis which may support more complicated and larger animals, trees in small pockets scattered across the desert.

Localized Phenomena

The desert on the east are very dry and sandy. It is also the crash site of the arc ship. The area about 20 or so miles around the ship are polluted with energies, nanites, quantum machines, chemicals and radiation from decaying and broken cyphers. These cause mutations and create conditions for spawning all kinds of monsters that from time to time wander out of the deserts.

History

This is the first continent settled by various groups, cultures and beings after the crash. Arolend Culture, Soki Culture, and Ayorhah Culture all have cities and influence here, and population centers of Dragonborn and Aarakocra. Technically the birthplace of the Ayorhah culture they departed here in their own sea ships to establish their own homeland across the Meridian sea.
