Chapter 9, Session 5: Gold, Fans and Wrath
General Summary
For years, I chased a death and finally, meeting this group has made me feel alive... and YOU hurt them... just know I'm only not killing you because you are so below me you aren't worth the spell slot. The party continued their trek deeper into the caverns of Fallrock and found themselves, with the spa behind them, looking at a gold and treasure filled room. Putting them immediately on guard.
- Ez fires a parting shot at Enarys Walker as he leaves.
As they searhced, Olympia decided to use her Detect Magic ability to see if there were any spells or magical items in the area but noticed that, strangely, the room was entirely dull and devoid of any magic whatsoever. She told the party this and they entered, looking about the treasure filled space and checking various spaces in the area for objects of interest. Whilst they checked, Mimsi noticed that everything in the room was treasure to adventurers, deliberately set out to be both useful and luxurious things... she also noticed a shifting amongst the treasure piles that did not belong to the party. Finally, she read the engraving on the steel knight statues that kept watch over the space and saw it said the party could 'satiate their greed' in the 'treasure room of Silliscor' the party decided to not pick up any treasures from the space out of fear of consequences (though Olympia was VERY close to grabbing a scroll she spotted and Fen nearly tried to take a sword in a sealed case).
With that however, the party moved to the next room and found a whistled tune that Olympia recognised and the smell of a meal that Fen recalled Kodo to have cooked in the town of Edmonton ... one of the first meals the party had had together. With their guards up, the party agreed for Ez, disguised as a mouse, to sneak closer to investigate the area. However, as Ez attempted to stealth round to check he saw a door carved into the walls of the dungeon and a figure who, standing guard in front of it, immediately screamed and attacked the mouse with a stream of eldritch blasts. Dessicating Ez's mouse form and immediately alerting the party to danger. However, the figure; a blonde haired young woman who appeared human. Immediately appeared mortified at her actions and apologised profusely to Ez for her attack, notably using a Healing Light ability to heal his wounds she had inflicted. After that point, two more figures came through the door and one of them, the largest and seemingly oldest of the trio, scolded the blonde girl for attacking Ez and 'embarrassing them' before sending the girl to her 'room'. A very perplexed Ez asked what was going on as the party stealthily moved into position and the girls revealed their names were Lyra, Thera and Ryra and that they had prepared a meal and drinks for the party. With that the group slowly revealed themselves and the sisters responded with excessive screams, embarrassment and joy at seeing the group. Highlighting that they had 'favourite members' and were glad the party survived Fallrock so far. When the party finally relented and entered the sister's home they saw a quaint cottage space with a stew cooking in the centre, a set of furniture that looks to have been stolen and a set of mattresses on the ground surrounded in strange materials. Moments later, Lyra bustled through from an adjoining room and was holding a tray of party specific drinks: Whisky for Mimsi, ale recovered from The Frosted Tankard in Edmonton for Fen, water, oil or rocks for Olympia, water for Ez and a pot of tea for Kodo. The party asked how the sisters knew so much about them and they girls revealed that they were huge fans of the party since they had gathered in Oar's Rest and nearly were killed by a dinosaur. The sisters explained that they had been travelling and carrying an entity with them throughout Alturis until they heard of the party's exploits and became obsessed with them, following their trail, picking up memorabilia and, eventually, figuring out the party's names and progress so that they could scry on them regularly as Persicorum had become vital entertainment for the three of them. The party were at first deeply uncomfortable at this idea before it became clear that the sisters had no interest in maliciously using the party but, rather, wanted to simply observe and watch them for their own understanding of what 'mortals' are like. The sisters then further explained that, the one that they were travelling with was the entity known as The Wanderer and that, when Silas took him, the sisters tried to track and fight Silas to take the wanderer back but they were handily and brutally defeated with Lyra losing some fingers, Thera losing her magic and Ryra losing her 'enunciation'. The part quizzed them further on this and learned that the sisters were something akin to immortals but, everytime they died, they lost a piece of themselves. And so, Silas defeated and forced them to stay in Fallrock where they decided to set up a home and prepare a space for the party to rest. The party then spent the evening quizzing and chatting to the sisters while they enjoyed their meal and, after convincing Ryra to join their ranks and travel with them as the sisters personal camera to watch with and also convincing the sisters to move to Wakefield when they defeated Silas Povir, the party also learned:
- The sisters had a 'fan theory board' in which they asked if Fen would marry Olympia
- they expressed their belief Ez was statistically likely to betray the party based on trends.
- They believed Thordak would die if the party visited the Utrunks clan due to Thordak's 'character arc'.
- They had the belief that the entities were wrong in their categorisation of the party. The sisters made this theory after they admitted they believed the Chaos left Olympia because it realised it was mistaken to see her as a form of chaos.
Rewards Granted
The party gained a new follower in Ryara and found allies in the three sisters.
