Firstport
About 1 year after The First arrived on Amaltheon, a second batch of Wanderer souls were brought into the world. With the land available to The First at the time, it was unreasonable for them to try and accommodate these new Wanderer souls. Instead, a few of The First took these new Wanderer Souls south, where they established the coastal village of Firstport.
In Highsun of 21PW, however, when the god Cimthir, of Great Might, ascended, she brought her wrath upon the village of Firstport, much of which was lost to fire and flood. When Kavir, the Stalwart, ascended to protect those in Firstport and the storm finally stopped, Amaltheon came together to help rebuild the small village of Firstport into a bustling port town, which would eventually home the majority of souls within the western continent.
Demographics
Much like Dawnbank before it, Firstport is home to all races on Amaltheon, but in more recent times, it has found itself housing a larger variety than the first town on the western continent. Although many elves decided to make their home in Lyth Radh, those who did not fancy the more rural lifestyle found themselves living in Firstport due to its closer proximity, allowing for easy travel to meet relatives and friends. Additionally, many dwarves make this town their home due to its bustling trade centre and open port, allowing for easy access to Halag's Mond when Kurmeck Steelhand opens the docks to Porter ships. Even the Halfling population of the western continent found itself moving down to Firstport after its reconstruction in 21 PW, as there was a large focus on food and drinking establishments, which many halflings excel at and find themselves drawn towards.
Unfortunately, however, over time there has developed a bit of a wealth gap in Firstport due to the many rich traders who call it home and the influence they have over the council who run the town. Though there are very few, if any, areas in the town that could be considered poor, there are many places that clearly have a greater income, such as many of the homes on the northern dock front. Although this gap is not very problematic right now, rumours of potential corruption scandals have taken hold of Fisrtport, which may lead to problems in the upcoming months and years.
Government
When Firstport was a small coastal village, it too was governed by an elected mayor, much like Dawnbank before it, but after its reconstruction in 21PW, it became hard for one individual to cover all the issues that would arise. In Lowsun, 23PW, the last mayor of Firstport, Alfred Fernley, announced the "Council of Firstport". This was to be a council of five elected officials who would each manage a part and aspect of the town's governance. Many have served on this council since its conception, with each holding their position for roughly a decade, though each position has an election held for it once every 5 years, with each position's election being held one year after another to ensure there is stability on the council.
