Arpeggio

Arpeggio dan Vacht

Arpeggio is a half-elf of human and Sun Elf lineage. As such he has the thick golden hair of his father, but it grows out in waves much like his mother’s. His eyes are green with flecks of gold that catch the light. His face is young and has the slight empyreal quality of the elves, but with the odd human imperfection, such as the faint scar above his right eye.   His father is an elven diplomat, Palaneus Mal’Salma and his mother a courtesan in Milagon, Cassandra dan Vacht

Personal history

An abduction plot by one of her rivals led to both of the children having to be smuggled out of the city. Unfortunately they were double-crossed and their protector, an aging knight named Brandal Dawnseeker, was grievously wounded in the ensuing fight. Arietta was carried away aboard a ship, whilst Arpeggio managed escape only by fooling his pursuers into thinking he had drowned.   Alone and unable to return, Arpeggio travelled from place to place surviving on his wit and his music. Eventually his talents were noticed by a College of Bards known as The Triumph who, along with a mysterious benefactor, taught him to harness the power of music and intertwine it with the arcane weave of spellcasting. He also learned to defend himself with blades and became a deft swordsman. Upon turning 16, his secretive benefactor was finally revealed as his own mother. Reunited, they swore they would work together to find Arietta and bring her home.   This is what caused him to leave his life and seek his taken sister. Using his skill at music and natural charm, he travelled as a bard, gathering stories, hoping to find one to lead him to his sister.   Whilst with the Thanes of Order, he discovered Arietta's name in the ledger of Aelfreck Pingorn, showing she had been trafficked into slavery in Belegond.   He travelled with the party to Belegond to seek her, but was unsuccessful until he discovered her fused into a dread construct, a mechanical dragon. She was killed by a thunderbolt from Rhobur.   Destroyed by her loss, Arpeggio threw himself from a cliff after the party were transported to Ebrion, and was presumed dead.   The party have now learned he was in fact taken moments before hitting the waves by the Lady of Mirrors, who has a curious affection or obsession for the boy.   He was seen in visions trying to reconstruct a broken mirror, but a final piece would never fit.   When the party arrived in the Feywild, they eventually were shown Arpeggio by the lady, lying unconscious upon a stone table, his hair long, white and straight, appearing matured.   After much persuasion and gift giving, the Lady agreed to return Arpeggio to the party for one year and a day. She would enable it by placing a mental block in his mind around his sister. However, mention of his sister in his presence 3 times would mean the Lady would collect him, as his mind would break and she would not see him harmed. She informed the party a Wish may be the only way to solve his troubles...
