Degdia

The Degdia, or sometimes just Degdia, is the deity of Weather, storms and trickery.   At the beginning of the Ara, the Degdia laughed at the battle between Mercannan and Duantis over the land and the sea. To continue their dispute, she created the sky and the rain to always return the water from the sea to the land.   The Degdia is often represented as female, though has also presented as male, too.   She is often called upon by those who wish to control the weather or to cause mischief. Degdia is a capricious deity, and her mood can change at a moment's notice. She is known to be both helpful and harmful, depending on her whim. Those who seek her favor should be prepared to offer her a tribute of something that will appeal to her.

Divine Domains

As a part of their dominion over the sky, the Degdia is also attributed dominion over weather, storms, rain and snow. Some followers of Brigantia will also keep a small shrine to the Degdia to ensure rain for their crops. Similarly, some sailors may pay some homage to the Degdia as well as Mercannan, to ensure fair weather and wind. Lugh is also a common deity for sailors, particularly merchants.   As a deity of trickery, the Degdia also has domain over actors, criminals, thieves, deception, gambling, games and luck. Her influence can be deemed to be benign, neutral or malevolent, usually depending on how one's luck is running - hence the request for luck to 'be a lady' - her more benevolent aspect.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The major symbol of the Dedgia is the lightning bolt. Other symbols include clouds, raindrops, masks and dice. Playing cards are sometimes used as a subtle reference to identify fellow worshippers. =
