Molotl (Moh-lot-el)

Overview

Son of Mehena and twin brother of Cehbris. He is the god of the dawn, redemption, spring, renewal, beginnings, and life. Molotl has a reputation for being sometimes overly enthusiastic, slightly vain, and given to excesses, all flaws very common among the young. He is also eternally optimistic and doggedly persistent. Ever willing to pass over the defeat of today to focus on the victories of tomorrow, Molotl preaches a doctrine of proactive good works and constant reevaluation of society’s traditions and mores. His herald is the Sunlord, a powerful angelic spirit of light that keeps the brilliant sun shining in the sky.

Portfolio and Responsibilities

He is a god whose portfolio includes birth, creativity, dawn, renewal, healing, redemption, spring, vitality, and youth. Novices in Molotl’s faith were called the Awakened, while clerics were known as Dawnbringers. The full priests took a new name in his service when they were ready to signify that Molotl personally recognized and accepted them. All of Molotl's clergy respected art, liberty, nature, and culture; promoted betterment of oneself; and strove to bring hope to their followers and others. Many of these followers worked in various creative arts. They were intolerant of evil, especially undead and inaction that caused evil to prosper.

Manifestations

Molotl manifests his power as an intense rosy radiance surrounding the bodies of those he favors. His radiance also appears around objects to indicate special qualities about them and at confusing or dangerous junctures to indicate a safe or preferred path.

Meta Information

Obedience

The Morninglord values the redemptive powers of compassion and patience, and extends them to all who might be capable of good. Offer to heal a stranger of his wounds, either by using the powers granted to you or with a potion, scroll, or other item you possess. Tell the stranger it is by the will of Molotl that you share your healing gifts. You may also use your Heal skill to perform this act of healing service. If you can’t find a stranger who will accept your offer, stand beneath the open sky during the daylight hours. Blindfold yourself with a red-and-gold scarf and try to locate the sun in the sky through the layers of fabric. Gain a +2 sacred bonus on Perception checks.

Divine Boon

1: Brightness (Sp) dancing lanternAPG 3/day, continual flame 2/day, or daylight 1/day   2: Healing Sunburst (Su) You can transmute the sun’s burning rays into brilliant, healing fire. You can add your exalted levels to any cleric levels you have to calculate the power of your channel energy ability. In addition, you can spend three of your daily uses of your channel energy ability to channel an especially powerful burst of healing that manifests as a bright burst of sunlight around you. Anyone healed by your channeled energy sunburst who is currently suffering from poison or a nonmagical disease can immediately attempt a new saving throw with a +2 sacred bonus to end the poison or disease effect.   3: Angelic Ally (Sp) Once per day as a standard action, you can summon a movanic deva (Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 2 28) to aid you. You gain telepathy with the movanic deva to a range of 100 feet. The deva follows your commands perfectly for 1 minute for every Hit Die you possess before vanishing back to its home. The deva doesn’t follow commands that would cause it to violate its alignment by committing evil acts, and it could even attack you if the command is particularly egregious.

Paladin Code

The paladins of the Morninglord are bright and pure, like their god. They provide hope to the weak and support to the righteous. Their tenets include the following adages.
  • I will protect my allies with my life. They are my light and my strength, as I am their light and their strength. We rise together.
  • I will seek out and destroy the spawn of evil. If I cannot defeat them, I will give my life trying. If my life would be wasted in the attempt, I will find allies. If any fall because of my inaction, their deaths lie upon my soul, and I will atone for each.
  • I am fair to others. I expect nothing for myself but that which I need to survive.
  • The best battle is a battle I win. If I die, I can no longer fight. I will fight fairly when the fight is fair, and I will strike quickly and without mercy when it is not.
  • I will redeem the ignorant with my words and my actions. If they will not turn toward the light, I will redeem them by the sword.
  • I will not abide evil, and will combat it with steel when words are not enough. I do not flinch from my faith, and do not fear embarrassment. My soul cannot be bought for all the stars in the sky.
  • I will show the less fortunate the light of the Morninglord. I will live my life as his mortal blade, shining with the light of truth.
  • Each day is another step toward perfection. I will not turn back into the dark.
