New Hope

A glittering trade city that was founded by one of the previous Imperators of the old House Skaven.   New Hope attracts merchants, traders, adventurers, and explorers from all over Arion as they come in search of fortune, fame, and adventure. The marketplaces are filled with goods from every corner of Arion, and it is said that anything imaginable can be bought or sold for the right price if you know where to look.   The city itself is a maze of winding streets and alleys that lead to hidden squares and courtyards. The architecture is a mix of styles, reflecting the different cultures that have settled in the city. There are tall towers with pointed roofs, elegant domes, and colourful facades. The city is also surrounded by walls that were built to protect it from attacks but now serve as a testament to its rich history.   Whether you are a trader looking to make a profit, an adventurer seeking fame and glory, or simply a visitor looking for some excitement, New Hope has something to offer. With its diverse population and vibrant economy, it is a city that is always on the move and full of surprises.  

Government

New Hope is an independent minarchistic City State, ruled by the Minarch. The city-state operates on the principle of individual liberty, and the government's role is limited to ensuring that citizens' rights are respected and protected.   Although the city subscribes to Arion Common Law, the punishments meted out for transgressions have been known to differ vastly.

Districts

The Old Quarter: The Old Quarter is one of the oldest and most historic parts of New Hope. It is a district that is filled with narrow streets, old stone buildings, and charming cafes and restaurants. What makes the Old Quarter truly unique, however, is that it was built on the ruins of an underground city. The underground city is said to be full of mysterious tunnels, hidden chambers, and ancient artefacts, making it a popular destination for adventurers and treasure hunters.   The Harbor District: The Harbor District is the bustling centre of trade and commerce in New Hope. A diverse range of ships from all over the world call this vast complex, which is crammed with piers and wharves, home. The area is well-known for its vibrant marketplaces, vibrant taverns, and exotic wares from far-off places. It is also the starting point for many exciting sea voyages and adventures.   The Noble Quarter: The Noble Quarter is the wealthiest and most prestigious part of New Hope. It is a district that is filled with grand mansions, opulent gardens, and luxurious shops and restaurants. The district is home to many of the city’s most influential and powerful families, and it is a place where the rich and famous come to see and be seen. The Noble quarter is set on a hill overlooking the harbour and most homes here have breathtaking views.   The Adventurer's Quarter: The Adventurer’s Quarter is a thriving area packed with merchants, inns, and other establishments catering to the specific requirements of adventurers. It is close to the city gates, making it an ideal stopover for people entering or departing the New Hope. The area is famed for its boisterous taverns, where adventurers congregate to tell stories and plot their next adventure. Finally, the district has several pact halls where adventurers can join any of the pacts, or conduct pact business. The Sixth Pact; The Pact of the Hearth’s headquarters are located here.   The Diplomatic Quarter: The Diplomatic Quarter is a district where foreign dignitaries and envoys come to meet with New Hope's rulers and other government officials. The district is known for its grand embassies and diplomatic residences.   The Artisan’s District: The Artisan District is a district that is filled with craftsmen, artists and artisans The district is renowned for its vibrant workshops, lively marketplaces, and innovative designs. It is also a place where adventurers and travellers can find unique and valuable items to aid them in their quests.

The Grand Arena: The Grand Arena is the largest and most prestigious arena in New Hope. It is a place where the city-state's finest warriors and athletes compete in a variety of contests, including battles, races, and other matches. The Grand Arena is often used for military displays.   The Tower of the Mage: The Tower of the Archmage is a towering structure that looms over the city-state's skyline. It is the home of the city-state's most powerful mage, an archmage who is rumored to possess incredible magical powers. The tower is surrounded by a powerful magical barrier, and is guarded by fierce magical creatures. Only those who are invited ever stand a chance of getting in safely.   The Forgotten City: The Forgotten City is a network of tunnels and chambers that lie beneath the city. They are the ruins of an ancient city that pre-dates New Hope. Many adventurers seeking riches and glory may be drawn to the catacombs, but due to the extreme nature and unreliable infrastructure, forays into the Forgotten City are only allowed when sanctioned through a qualified guide. These guides can be found in the Adventurer’s Quarter for a small fee.   The Black Obelisk: The Black Obelisk is a towering monolith that stands at the centre of the city’s principal marketplace. It is not known where it originates from, or even what its purpose is, but citizens of New Hope seem unfazed by its ominous presence.
