Monterra

To the south, on the other side of the Middle Sea, lies the ancient lands of Monterra. These lands are ruled by a group of priestesses dedicated to the god Erathis, with the head priestess selected by the Hadrianic Emperor (and rumored to be one of his consorts). The Monterran civilization had risen to prominence long before the Hadrians, and ruins of their once proud civilization can be found all over the deserts, mountains, and jungles of their land. Some of these ruins are rumored to hold fantastic treasures, but are generally believed to be haunted by the souls of the undead or simply cursed.
The city is currently under the control of Claudius Hadrianus after the previous governor, Josephus Martellus was killed by the The Black Brigade.  Claudius governs the city with the help of the Scions of Heresy, the group of adventurers who rallied the city's defenses and repelled an invasion from the Black Brigade.  
Claudius is sympathetic toward the Senate in Hadrianus, but has so far declined a formal alliance.  The city is currently under threat from several rogue battalions of the Black Brigade.  The Brotherhood of Burnination has also been active in the region, raiding the city's trade and mining expeditions and attempting to convince Abraxis to join their cause.
