Ancalagon is a large, immaculate composite bow constructed of Brancan ironwood.   It is a dark walnut ebony color. The rich brown grain of the wood is polished to a near mirror finish. There's a lighter strip-like amber that splits down the center of the back.   Flush with the wood is golden filigree in the design of leaves that lead to the tips of the bow.   They bow has a fine leather grip, and the string is made of finely entwined sinew.

Creation

Arwin crafted Ancalagon with the aid of a bowyer of the Order of the Bow. He presented a number of ingredients for the bow, which he said all had important meaning to him.
  • Rich brown ironwood lumber from the mountains north of Branca.
  • Dried sinew and intestine harvested from a griffon.
  • A small, gold ingot mined from southern Endor.
  • Femur bones and leather hide from a deer hunted in his youth.

Enchantment

Arwin had the bow enchanted to alert the group when danger was near. When the effect is activated, the golden filigree glows with a soft, golden light.

History
