Moraulden
Structure
Moraulden is a Kingdom. King Alerik resides in the keep of Lake Alistair, and is lord above the barons who act as mayors of the smaller settlements of the kingdom.
History
Moraulden is a collective of former colonies belonging to The Duchy of Oestmark in the Aerelith region. Moraulden declared independence from Duke Baderich of Oestmark in the year 672, and after years of bloodshed officially broke free from their liege in 676, with the signing of the treaty of Halkirk. Lake Alistair was declared the new capital, ruled by King Alerik.
Foreign Relations
Though now bound by treaty to peace with The Duchy of Oestmark, the two realms still view eachother with distrust, and some even with disdain. Each side blames the other for creating the conditions which lead to King Alerik's secession, and many Oestmarken lost loved ones in the conflict; either to falling in battle, or clans being separated by new diplomatic barriers and allegiances.
The Asherai Sultanate, who was allied with Duke Baderich of Oestmark during the war, has never signed a treaty with Moraulden directly; the two are still technically in a state of war. However, conflict in recent years has consisted only of minor border disputes and open conflict has not taken place since the treaty of Halkirk.
