Jasmine Walker
Miss Jasmine Walker (a.k.a. Jazz)
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Jasmine is quite skinny, having been unable to put on weight since her drug-abusing days, but she makes effort to keep herself physically fit, often taking walks rather than driving, and doing regular strength exercises with Rachel when time allows.
Body Features
Since her death and subsequent imprisonment in Zaebos' Hell, Jasmine has slowly undergone a mutation caused by the demon's corruptive energy. Her eyes have taken on a glowing pink colour, her skin has become pale, her ears pointy, and she's grown a pair of dark horns that emerge just above her ears. Unlike many though, Jasmine seems resistant to the mental effects of Zaebos' corruption and retains her original personality.
Identifying Characteristics
For those with the senses to pick it up, Jasmine has a distinct scent of daisies that accompanies her wherever it goes, even into the brimstone infused realm of Hell. During her life, it made her popular with animals and easy for the likes of Rue to pick out of a crowd.
Special abilities
At the moment, Jasmine is a spirit trapped within Zaebos' domain, but she's been able to split off a small part of herself to accompany Rue, serving as one of her ghostly entourage. In this form, she's able to appear and disappear at will and pass through solid objects, though her ability to interact with the physical world is severely hampered.
Apparel & Accessories
Jasmine is rarely seen without her trademark fuchsia jacket, it having been the first item she bought herself after getting off drugs. To her it represents the ability to control her own life, and is more precious to her than most people could ever understand.

Personal history
The streetwise and insightful yin to Rachel's passionate and hopeful yang, Jasmine Walker was no stranger to doing whatever it takes to survive in The Railyard and beyond. Cursed with a somewhat darker perspective on the world than her protégé, Jasmine had often struggled with drugs and alcohol, but gave it up for good when she took the younger girl under her wing, helping to mould her into the person she is today, with the two of them making a habit of helping 'Railyard Roaches' with their big city problems.
Jasmine was born into a destitute Railyard family during one of its harshest eras. From an early age, she gravitated toward the wrong crowd, seeking solace from neglectful parents and the quest for belonging. Her journey led her into the company of wayward youths, where drugs and alcohol filled the void left by the absence of genuine human connection.
Over the course of her teenage years, Jasmine eventually fell out of contact with her parents. They didn't want her and she had made enough friends at this point to get by without them, doing anything she could to get by, just like any other Railyard Roach.
The drugs helped for a while but, like many of her fellows in the slums, she still felt empty. Her revelation came when she encountered thirteen-year-old Rachel Stevens, a solitary figure who served as a poignant reminder of her own loneliness. Jasmine immediately resolved to extend her support to the young girl.
With most of her money going to feed a second mouth and a new responsibility to take care of, Jasmine soon found that she didn't want to continue being the person she was before. Over the course of a gruelling detox and subsequent recovery, Jasmine was able to get clean, showing Rachel that between the two of them, they could accomplish anything.
With her mind cleared, Jasmine could finally think about how the two of them could pick themselves out of the gutter. It was at this time that she introduced Rachel to the world of street fighting, acting as something akin to Rachel's manager as the younger girl shocked audiences with her feats of strength and endurance.
As their bond deepened, Rachel keenly embraced Jasmine's burgeoning altruism, adopting the moniker 'Suplex' for her street-fighting persona. This identity served not only as a symbol of their street-fighting prowess but also as a means to combat injustices within The Railyard. The dynamic duo earned a reputation as protectors of their community, with Jasmine offering solace and assistance through words and favors, while Rachel wielded the fist of justice, deterring those who sought to exploit the vulnerable.
After a few years, Jasmine and Rachel would eventually move out of the Railyard as the latter's superhero career took off and the former decided to aim higher in her philanthropic journey, even considering running for city council at one point to give the other roaches a voice.
Rachel was quick to gain independence and Jasmine was proud of her. Nonetheless, the pair still continued to regularly work together, taking on the likes of The Spider, helping the other Railyard residents whenever they could, and even playing a pivotal role in helping the young hero Rue find their feet.
As time passed, and both Jasmine and Rachel grew busier, Jasmine increasingly found herself tackling cases independently that she might have sought assistance for in the past. Her skills as an investigator had evolved substantially over the years, to the extent that people now sought her out as a quasi-private investigator. One of her most pressing inquiries involved 'Sting,' a recent designer street drug that had surfaced in The Railyard, linked to a series of fatalities.
Her proactive approach would prove to be her downfall however, as her investigation led her straight to the lair of a would-be supervillain, an encounter that she wouldn't escape with her life. She was found a few days later and her death ruled an overdose of Sting, with Rachel being called in as her next of kin to identify her. However, Jasmine's sacrifice did not go in vain. Rachel obtained a crucial clue from the tragic event, propelling her to the same location. Consumed by grief-fueled rage, she demolished the building, effectively severing the supply of Sting for good.
A packed funeral service was held for Jasmine, attended by some of Bathala City's most influential heroes, and her body supposedly laid to rest. Nevertheless, on an unplanned trip to Hell , her old friend Rue would be given another opportunity to see Jasmine, having been imprisoned there for an unknown reason.
Benefiting from Rue's peculiar affinity for drawing spirits, Jasmine managed to convey a fragment of her soul through them, harboring a desire to watch over her old companions from beyond the grave. Rue however, is not ready to just let her languish in Hell for all eternity and is planning a new excursion into the afterlife, to rescue Jasmine or die trying.
Sexuality
Jasmine is bisexual, having a near-enough equal level of attraction to both genders, though she often has trouble forming and maintaining romantic relationships due to her commitment to her work.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Took the young Rachel Stephens under her wing and kept her safe while living in The Railyard.
Managed to clean up her act after spending much of her youth addicted to drugs and alcohol.
Managed to "convince" the prosecutor Jonathan Sinclair to take it easy on her friend Antonio.
Helped convince Rue to work with Alec Upton as an informant to take down the infamous gangster; The Spider.
Failures & Embarrassments
Mental Trauma
Jasmine's mental trauma stems from a turbulent upbringing in The Railyard, marked by neglect, addiction, and a pervasive sense of emptiness. Her struggle to find belonging and purpose, coupled with her past demons, haunt her.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Jasmine's motivation is deeply rooted in her innate sense of responsibility towards others, a commitment that transcends conventional notions of family. While her connection with her birth parents was minimal, she compensates for this emotional void by extending her care and support to every resident of The Railyard, whom she regards as her extended family. This profound sense of duty isn't limited to those she knows personally; it extends to any person in need, regardless of their background. Jasmine finds solace and fulfillment in being a beacon of hope and assistance, whether it's helping fellow Roaches or offering a helping hand to strangers she encounters on the streets. Her motivation arises from a genuine desire to mend the broken pieces of her past and to create a brighter future for those who share the struggles she once faced.
Likes & Dislikes
Jasmine loves alternative fashions; combat boots, piercings and hair dye. She's also fond of flowers, symphonic metal, dancing, friends, and especially pizza. During her spare time, she likes little better than hosting people for a pizza party with music and chaos.
By contrast, Jasmine deeply loathes pretentious people, social injustice, road traffic, and especially anchovies.
Social
Contacts & Relations
Jasmine and Rachel are well-loved among the residents of The Railyard for their kindness and strong sense of justice. Thanks to this, they've got access to all that the slums might offer, be that drugs, weapons, information or anything else. The only times they have problems is when coming up against the interests of The Spider.
Social Aptitude
Jasmine is well-known for her keen eye for people and ability to read characteristics of a person from the smallest of details, earning her the affectionate nickname "Detective Jasmine," among some of The Railyard's residents. She was able to deduce that Rue was in over their head long before they were willing to admit it for themself. She is also something of a social chamelion. While not the greatest actress, she's able to put on a convincing enough display that she's able to talk her way both into and out of trouble without resorting to the violence and superpowers of her more hot-headed companions.
