Jolþic

Jolþic1 is one of the main languages spoken by the Þjaric Elves in northwestern Jælondis, spoken primarily by the people of Jolþ in southern Þjaris. While each of the five tribes that make up the Jolþi nation have their own dialect, particularly those in rural regions, these variations are usually grouped in either north- or south-jolþic, with the northern ones being more influenced by the languages of the Æjalans and Æleans.
Jolþic is closely related to Æjalan, specifically high æjalan spoken in eastern Æjala, and before the þjaric elves withdrew from the rest of Jælondis for almost four hundred years, the language (especially southern dialects) were mutually intelligible with the languages of the Þamtans and Erens just south of Þjaris.
As with the other þjaric languages, the isolationist period caused a huge shift in jolþic vocabulary, when foreign loanwords were replaced with other older cognates or new words, and even the use of those describing many plants, animals and customs regarded as foreign was discouraged as native flora and fauna replaced those common to the lands outside Þjaris.

Writing System

Both the northern and southern dialects of the language are written using the jolþic alphabet, which today is the most widespread script in Þjaris.
