Green Dragon
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
The mating and courtship rituals of green dragons are rough processes. Despite this, they become strong bond mates once they trust each other enough. Green dragons are also attentive parents, ensuring that their young are well-prepared to be ambitious once they leave the nest. When the time comes, green dragon parents chase off their young ferociously and end up splitting their territory between each other. This eventually leads to rivalry, but green dragons seem unbothered by it.
Ecology and Habitats
Green dragons are known for making their lairs in forested areas, preferring areas with large, old trees. When searching for a lair, they look for locations hidden by foliage or water, such as cliffs, hillsides, or ruins that have been overtaken by vegetation.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Green dragons regularly patrol in search of prey. Although they have been known to consume even small trees when hungry, they highly value the fey and their mortal descendants.
Behaviour
Green dragons are notorious for their ambition and their thirst for treasure. They desire to know everything that is going on within their territory and are not above using intimidation to gain power over any humanoids living in or near their domain. While they are more subtle when dealing with creatures of similar power, they are not above attempting to manipulate them as well. They are considered smooth and sophisticated among those not of their kind, but they can become crass and rude when interacting with other green dragons. Their mutual distrust prevents them from establishing a formal hierarchy, resulting in only begrudging civility towards the eldest and most influential among a group of green dragons.
When encountering creatures they do not intend to manipulate, they will most often attack them. A green dragon loves the hunt and will stalk its prey for as long as necessary before striking. When encountering groups, they will always leave one alive to provide information that may be of interest or to prove their worth enough to survive.

Additional Information
Facial characteristics
One notable feature of green dragons is their heavily curved jawline and crest that begins at the eyes and continues down most of their spine. The full height of this crest is located just behind their head, on their neck. Green dragons lack external ears, only having holes instead. Leathery plates run down the sides of their neck, each edged with hornlets. Additional hornlets are located above their brow and on their chin. Their nostrils are set high on their snout, resembling those of an alligator. Even when their mouth is closed, their teeth remain visible. Green dragons also have long, slender, forked tongues.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Upon hatching, a green dragon has small, thin, scales of deep green, nearly black. As it ages, the scales grow larger and turn lighter, forest, emerald, and olive greens. Its wings have a dappled pattern, darker towards the alar limbs and lighter at the tips of the phalanges.
