Sluyan

Geography

Sluyan, an expansive subcontinent nestled within the larger landmass of Caanae, encompasses three primary islands that stretch out across a total area of approximately 2,150,626 square miles. This vast region is a sprawling tapestry of diverse landscapes, from lush forests to barren deserts, from towering mountain ranges to peaceful plains. It is in this enchanting subcontinent that the vibrant, swirling waters of the Em Olae, affectionately known by locals as the Heart Ocean due to its central location, gently merge with the icy, formidable expanse of the A Sjansk Årluk, or The Great Expanse, located in the extreme north. This convergence is a sight to behold, a testament to the raw, unbridled power of nature.

History

The Sluyan archipelago, comprised of three significant islands, has for millennia been an essential part of maritime commerce. Strategically positioned, these islands have served as crucial bridges for the bustling trade between the continental lands of Kemira to the east and Wrodand to the west. The primary purpose of these island waypoints is to provide a safer and less treacherous route for sailors and traders, allowing them to circumnavigate the deep, perilous waters and the unpredictable, wild weather conditions of the Em Olae. This route through the Sluyan islands has historically been a lifeline for nations reliant on trade, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and commodities.
