Aldoris
An island in the Windy Sea Sea with an evil reputation. The western end of the island is dominated by a rocky mountain rising to about 1000’ surrounded by the sea on three sides with a steep, but climbable slope on the eastern side. The rest of the island has several smaller hills with ranging from 300’-700’ feet in height with rocks and mid-sized trees covering their slopes. At the Eastern end of the island is a village that appears to be in a state of decay, although there are cultivated fields around it. The village looks down on a small, sheltered harbor suitable for fishing vessels or a few large ships. The north coast of the island is difficult to approach with many submerged or partially submerged rocks lying at the base of 50’-100’ sea cliffs. The south coast is typified by gentle stone covered beaches. Large sandbars will be visible along the south coast at low tide.
For more than two hundred years Aldoris was an isolated community that practiced fishing and subsistence farming. The island never had more than 150 permanent inhabitants. The island was ruled by the now defunct Barony of Gamba, which was overrun by an army of pirates and mercenaries employed by the Lord of Rowes. The island of Aldoris was not considered worthy of the attention of the Lords of Rowes of Rowes and was left alone until 20 years ago. At that time the Lord of Rowes needed to pay a group of witches, worshipers of the Demon-Goddess Celyar , The Lord's supported their seizure of the ill-defended island. The witches quickly defeated Averred Torre, the knight who was the island's lord. Torre, his family and their dozen men at arms were slaughtered by magic while the mercenaries employed by witches killed or enslaved the villagers. Since that time the witches, now calling themselves the Coven of Aldoris claimed the island as their own tiny kingdom.
