Empress of the Majaran Empire, Marshall of the Alyite Order Atheneis Morwynn Skaith Majara (a.k.a. Athi)
Atheneis is 5’,10” tall and has black hair that flows down her back in long, slightly curling locks. Her eyes are blue-gray and skin pale almost to the point of being ivory. She is heavily muscled, but is excellently proportioned and has an extremely beautiful face.
Daughter of Baron Yolen Majara, a Baron controlling a small holding in the Spine Mountains. After her father and brothers were killed in an ambush by the nobleman turned bandit, Lord Galnor. She was kidnapped and assaulted by Galnor, who planned to force her into marriage so he could claim her father’s lands. Atheneis managed to escape from Galnor’s camp and was found by a group of Alyites escorting a merchants’ caravan along the Great North Road.
Atheneis began training as a warrior at age sixteen when she joined the Alyite Order. She has a very marshal bearing and speaks with great authority and confidence. She started in the order as an Ensign, an officer trainee, and quickly climbed ranks to Captain. At age 23 she left active service with the order, but remained a member. After becoming the Queen of the Faroo and opening the Kingdom to the Alyites she was made a General of the Order. After her second great victory over the Zalarites at the battle of the Arendar Pass, she was made a Marshal of the Alyite Order.
When in the field she usually dresses in buckskins or light cotton garments depending on the climate. She usually wears magically forged black enameled plate armor and uses an enchanted bastard sword as her primary weapon. She is also skilled with a lance, two-handed sword, spear and crossbow. When off the battlefield she is prone to dressing stylishly in well-cut full length dresses or breeches and tunics made from silk or velvet. She is generally very straight forward when she wants something, to the point of tactlessness. She is completely stubborn and does not know the meaning of giving up. Despite the rough exterior she is very devoted to her family and clan and would probably sacrifice her life to save Willamina or one of her children. Atheneis likes the idea of being empress, but has worked to build a competent bureaucracy so she does not have work too hard at governance. Her greatest area of interest is her military. She has taken pains to build and train a highly effective army and has worked hard to turn her daughter Atheneis Shandie into an effective understudy. (AO)

Lesbian. Although Atheneis has had a few flings with men her romantic and sexual interests have become totally focused on other women. Her first serious relationship was with her original sword sister Norissa Leskos. This relationship slowly died after Atheneis met her first wife Zerra and her second sword sister Jalissa Alborg. After her Xerra left and Jalissa died she began a relationship with two new sword sisters Klonna and Gwendra. She soon remarried to Willamina who has since remained her most important, but far from exclusive romantic interest. Since this time her household has been joined by several more women, including wives Floret, Peledie, Montara and mistress Lanta Kofar.
As a child she was tutored in literacy and mathematics . She joined the Alyite Order at age 16 and was trained as an officer cadet int he heavy cavalry.
Atheneis served as an officer in the Alyite Order until age age 23. At age 23 she took a leave of absence from the Order to under take independent activity. After leading a rescue expedition into the lawless and disorganized region of the Faroo she managed to establish herself as Queen. She remained Queen for five years. Leading a mixed army of mercenaries, personal retainers and Alyites she successfully invaded the the neighboring Kingdom of Karmis and then captured the KIngdom of Zareb. Shorly thereafter she announced the formation of the Majaran Empire and declared herself its first Empress.
Atheneis rose from being an ensign (officer trainee) to a Captain in the Alyite Order in the space of seven years. She then managed to place herself on the throne of the Faroo and restore the Kingdom's population by bringing in colonists and prisoners of war from other northern lands through the use of generous land grants. She went on the establish the Majaran Empire by conquering neighboring Karmis and turning Zareb into a vassal state.
The failure of her first marriage which resulted in her wife running away and causing the death of her Sword Sister Jalissa.
The death of most of her male relatives, her own kidnapping and the loss of her families baronial holding in the Spine brought a shocking end to her teenage years and threw her into full adulthood in the space of a day.
Atheneis is a quickly learned and usually managed to master anything she put her mind to. Well not deeply literary in her interests she reads a great deal on history, military treatises and political writings. She has a great appreciation for music, dance and the visual arts.

She is often accompanied by her per Rover Dog, a huge beast named Feldar. She enjoys riding and occasionally hunting, although its more an excuse to get away from court in the company of her sword sisters. She is interested in music, she both sings well and can play a traditional stringed instrument called a Sytra.
What Atheneis sounds like depends on which language she is speaking. When she speaks Corgerian or Mountaineer she sounds like a noble, but her Northron is that of military officer clipped and commanding in tone.

History
The two sisters were very close during their childhood and early teenage years. Their mother ran away when the girls were 6 and 8. Their father was distant and increasingly saw them as assets that could be bartered away in a political marriage. Separated by only two years they played and were educated together. With Atheneis' foreknowledge, at age 16 Annannara ran away from home to avoid marriage. Annannara had somewhat vague plans for Atheneis to join her once she managed to get herself established. These plans went astray and the two sisters did not see each other again for seven years. At this time Atheneis rescued Annannara from certain death and she joined her on her expedition north to the Faroo. After Atheneis conquered the Faroo she made Annannara Grand Duchess.

History
Willamina's arrival at court was sponsored by Klonna, who thought Atheneis would be attracted to her friend. The two women immediately fell for each other. Less than three months after their first meeting Atheneis married Willamina and made her High Queen. Using the spell of change Willamina has given birth to two daughters, Princesses Tonya and Lissa. Although they both have multiple partners, the two women are madly in love with each other and do not like to be separated for any length of time.

History
Gwendra deliberately recruited Floret to be a competitor to Willamina. Floret bore a strong resemblance to Atheneis first wife Xerra. Atheneis took the bait and fell for Floret, not that this made her any less interested in Willamina, who remained High Queen and mother of the heir. Although she was highly competitive with with Willamina, Floret was happy enough the accept becoming Atheneis number two wife and was soon given the symbolic rank of Queen of Karmis. After a number of years of bitter conflict Atheneis made a peace deal between her two wives which involved Willamina magically impregnating Floret resulting in the birth of triplets. To further cement the relationship Atheneis bestowed the title of the Princess on the three daughters.

History
After Montara's mother's death the Empress raised her as her ward and also took part in training her as a warrior and introducing her to the Alyite Order. Even as she entered her late childhood Montara imagined herself as the Empress' future wife. In her early teens she became increasingly overt about her goal and openly expressed her desires. Atheneis was incredibly uncomfortable with this situation and tried to direct Jalissa's interest away form her romantic dreams. As Jalissa reached adulthood, the Empress' resistance collapsed as she became increasingly enraptured by Montara's resemblance to her lost love. This lead to the Empress agreeing to marry Jalissa once she reacher her majority.

Tallia has been trained by the Zalarite sisterhood to see her half-sister as an enemy that must be destroyed. Over the years, her Zalarite handlers have trained her to play a role in overthrowing the Empress.
