Emperor Kellam Wulfric (a.k.a. Emperor Kellam the Devious)
Emperor Kellam the Devious was born on the 18th of Reath, 35 EC, to Emperor Erlan the Founder and Empress Elora the Mother. He is their youngest child who survived to adulthood and the child that ended up living the longest.
Kellam grew up in the shadow of his older brother, Prince Erlan II. Kellam grew to resent his older brother because of this. He knew he could never beat Erlan when it came to strength, so Kellam decided to focus on his brains. From a young age, Kellam began to study battle strategy, history, and philosophy. Despite his ambition, his parents still favored his older brother as their heir. This led Kellam to make the decision to murder his own brother, making him the new heir to the Matnum Empire.
Kellam began his plotting the death of his brother years in advance, essentially staging a small coup within his own family. His plans started almost ten years before the crime actually took place. To this day, no one knows how exactly he spent these ten years planning. No one even knew he was responsible for his brother's death until Kellam was on his deathbed. On the evening of Erlan's 32nd birthday, Kellam finally executed his plan by slipping poison into his brother's wine and framing it on his brother's best friend, the Master of War Lord Renald Calder. Kellam later admitted on his deathbed that he framed Renald Calder for the assassination because he also saw him as a threat and knew he would never truly be able to take full control of the court if Calder was still around. Upon the death of his brother and the execution of Lord Calder, Kellam was declared the new Crown Prince.
In order to save their family from being associated with their traitorous relative, the Calder family promised their eldest daughter, Eirina Calder, to the new Crown Prince. Kellam happily accepted the Calder family's proposal, knowing the marriage would only help to strengthen his hold on the Matnium court. The two were wed on the 1st of Aga, 66 EC. A year later, Eirina gave birth to their twin sons Aimar and Erdith on the 16th of Stryl.
Years later, on the 7th of Jumill, 85 EC, Kellam's father passed away from the Serpents Parasite. The evening after Emperor Erlan died, Kellam rose to power and became the new Emperor until the day he died.
Kellam died on the 7th of Etilt, 157 EC, with his son and heir, Aimar, by his side. Out of guilt and fear for what will happen to him once he's dead, Kellam confesses to his son what he did to his brother. This motivates Aimar to be a better Emperor than his father ever was. Sadly, it didn't last long.
