Prince Erlan Wulfric (a.k.a. Crown Prince Erlan the Wasted)
Crown Prince Erlan Wulfric II was born on the 21st of Maleh, 33 EC to Emperor Erlan the Founder and Empress Elora the Mother. After several failed pregnancies, the birth of their first son and heir was a momentous occasion and it was declared that his birthday would become a holiday celebrated every year. The holiday was later abolished by his brother, Emperor Kellam the Devious, when he rose to power.
As his fathers pride and joy, Erlan II rose through the ranks of the Matnium Empire and joined his fathers army. He eventually became his father's Emperor Regis. Shortly after Erlan was declared as the Emperor Regis, magic was discovered. Against Erlan II's advice, Emperor Erlan the Founder declared that magic should be kept secret from the people. This order failed when a young schollar named Arcaena Landris announced magic to the world. Arcaena was arrested and meant to be executed for disobeying the Emperor's orders, but after several years of protest she was released. Erlan fell in love with her rebellious spirit, and they got married on the 16th of Jumill, 60 EC.
Sadly, Erlan and Arcaena were unable to have any children before his untimely death on the evening of his 32nd birthday. At the time, his death was blamed on Lord Renald Calder, the current Master of War in the Imperial Council and Prince Erlan's closest friend. Later in history, it is discovered that Erlan's own brother Kellam poisoned the Crown Prince so the throne would pass to him instead. Kellam framed the murder of his older brother on Lord Calder, knowing that if he didn't get rid of the Master of War, then his crime would eventually be discovered and he would never be crowned Emperor of Matnum. Kellam's plan succeeded, and Lord Calder was executed not even a week after the Crown Prince's death.
