The Defiler

Depicted as a large monstrous being faintly resembling a human female, albeit an exceptional ugly one resembling the stories about the hags of the woods. She is often depicted stirring a large cauldron, stirring its fifty, rotten and pestilent content. This eerie similarity has given rise to the tale about her origin which speculates that she was a Hag who had wormed her way into being worshipped by a group of a fledging race, which we would describe as Goblins. To these Goblins she had portrayed her as the nature goddess of decay and rot. These Goblins completely believed this, being terrified of her wrath.
Over time, this Goblin tribe grew, united under a single "Divine" entity. Eventually, the combined faith of these gremlins influenced their deity with divine power. This both made the Hag far more powerful than before, however, this also ensure that the persona of a vengeful, monstrous being became the truth. In the last act before the persona took over, the hag using her new power cursed this race for what they've done to them. And because this the goblins are the way they are, cowards.

The faith: Gastrivax' Scourge

Those that follow Gastrivax do so because most of the time they have some sort of a vendetta against the world, or because they have a very nihilistic worldview. Either case, these individuals either see the world in a constant march to decay. Or see it their divine duty to bring this decay to the world. Either way, Gastrivax, empowers her followers to be capable to spread her gifts and endure them for as long as they need to.
Most people see the faith of Gastrivax to be a necessary evil, as decay and disease are an integral part of the world, due to this, Hags find a lot in this faith which aligns with their ideals, as such they are closely related with this faith.

Shrines to Gastrivax

Shrines to Gastrivax are not very common, at least not at the heart of civilization. These shrines are often in old broken buildings.

Quests of the Faith

Those seeking to gain the power of Gastrivax often get their visions while out in nature, these visions send them on quests to spread decay or disease, completing their quest when either some established organization is brought down, power changes hand or some disease has spread far trough a populous.
