Aeldir

The Blessed Justiciar

Aeldir is often depicted as a statuesque man, wearing gold and silver armor, riding a noble white steed. And many believe he is the origin of the commonly held notion of "prince charming". Which would describe his duties quite well, as saving those in need and being the force of good smiting down evil covers the core tenents of this god. People believe that Aeldir came to be during the downfall of the draconic wars, during which the wartorn land was ravaged by looters, thugs, and other descent. A group of men clad in shining armor opposed these ne'er-do-wells. The man at the head of this gleaming group became a legend, and with the combined faith of those he rescued Aeldir was elevated to be a god.   Aeldir stands for helping those in need from the forces of evil and ensuring this evil will be rooted out. To this end, they travel through the land, vigilant for pleads of distress, and offering their services to those in dire need. As such they often deal with bandits which have been terrorizing a nearby town, escort traveling farmers who can't afford guards, and other philanthropic individuals. As such these knights are held in high regard by commoners, but even the high born appreciate their work.

The faith: The Chosen Knights of Aeldir

Those that pick up the faith join the local chapter of Aeldir and endure a long training regiment, ensuring their skills are top-notch. During the earlier years hereof the acolyte devotes their training to the scriptures, tending to the bastion and collecting donations. During the second part of their training, these acolytes are matched up to one of the knights as their squire, during which time they refine their swordsmanship, repair skills, and other skills a knight on the road would need. After the knight determined their Squire is ready for knighthood, the most senior member of their chapter grants the young knight, during a lavish ritual, their first sword. After which the new knight shall forge their first set of armor. Then armed and armored they shall embark on their first quest, cementing their knighthood.

Shrines to Aeldir

The Shrines to Aeldir serve as bastions where these knights can recoup their strength, and repair their weapons and armor. As these are exceptionally well made these bastions employ some of the best smiths the lands have to offer. And even though the knight themselves are extremely outgoing and open, these bastions resembling small forts, remain mostly inaccessible to the common people, with only a small area devoted to services, and a donations box is always eagerly awaiting coin.

Quests of the Faith

Those that are Chosen to receive the divine gift of Aeldir embark on a grand quest to rid the world of some great evil, or to retrieve some powerful artefact which could be used for evil. After returning to their chapter with proof of their success, these knights once more partake in a lavish ritual, during which Aeldir grants them his gift. These knights become Aeldirs chosen, and are held in high regard by these chapters.
