Dragons
While many cultures had myths and legends featuring dragons from the beginning of recorded history, the first modern record of a Dragon egg hatching was in 1553, in the Black Forest of the Holy Roman Empire. Shortly thereafter, a number of dragon eggs were uncovered across the world, many of them hatching over the next century. The various world powers quickly established laws governing the care and breeding of Dragons and began to establish breeding lineages in service to their realm. As the breeding lineages were being established, almost all of them were militarized. Their Dragon Riders were quickly organized into military ranks.
Breeds
Breeds vary based on the lineage and the area of the world they were developed. Although only a few different breeds hatched from the first round of eggs, the variety was quickly expanded via lineage breeding techniques.
