Elysium

Elysium is home to creatures of unfettered kindness and compassion, and a welcome refuge for planar travelers seeking a safe haven. The plane's bucolic landscapes glimmer with life and beauty in their prime. Tranquility seeps into the bones and souls of those who enter the plane. It is the heaven of well-earned rest, a place where tears of joy glisten on many a cheek.

Geography

Most features of the four layers of Elysium are found on or near the banks of The River Oceanus which links the plane with two other Upper planes: Mount Celestia and Arborea . Oceanus is the counterpart to The River Styx which flows through the Lower planes except that Oceanus has only natural hazards and contains potable water. Lands near the riverbanks are lush with pines and flowering trees that fill the air with natural perfume. Farther from the river smaller trees grow and start to thin until finally, after hundreds of miles, the forest gives way to fertile veldt regions, vast grasslands, and eventually badlands and desert. There are no suns, moons, or stars in Elysium except those that the inhabiting Powers manifest. Depending on who or what was aloft, the shade of the sky could be deep indigo to a bright cerulean at any given moment.

Fauna & Flora

In addition to the myriad species of fish and wildlife, the sentient beings that choose to live in Elysium are many of those species found in other Upper planes such as planetars and solars. The rare and magical phoenixes are native to this plane and spend most of their time here in the beautiful landscapes that Elysium offered, avoiding those that would hunt them for profit.
