Session 1: The Mock Battle

General Summary

On the last day of their basic training, the recruits assembled for an announcement by Col. Viktor ir'Dvorak: they would take part in a mock battle between one another in a ruined outpost close to base. The thirty-six recruits were divided into three teams, dubbed Team Rocket, Team Flare and Team Skull, and their goal was to fly their team's flag on all three towers of the outpost.

Team Rocket planned to keep most of the team up their tower to defend, but Pvt. Oleg Bubnov called this plan "chickenshit" and went down to set up an ambush. Team Skull started advancing, dodging Team Flare's bullets while Team Rocket took potshots at Team Flare. Pvt. Charlotte ir'Yanus tried leading a small strike team across the ruins to reach Team Flare's tower while a few members of Team Flare came down to meet Team Skull on the field.

As the battle was picking up and paintballs flew from every direction, the battle ended abruptly when a real gunshot rang out behind a ruined wall. Pvt. Steffen Esser fell with a bleeding wound in his chest, as a mortified Pvt. Oleg Bubnov dropped a live-fire pistol in the grass. The soldiers and officers acting as referees stopped the battle and took Steffen and Oleg back to the base. The other recruits were then told to return to base and await further instructions there.

Back at Fort Zombie, Pvt. Res tried obtaining more information about Steffen and Oleg, but was turned away from the infirmary and stonewalled by the soldiers on guard duty.
