Khorvaire

Khorvaire is the largest continent in Eberron and has a long history of empires rising and falling, existential threats invading and conquering the land. Most recently, it has gone through a century long conflict that started with the dissolution with the Galifarian empire and ended with The Mourning.

Faiths of Khorvaire

The predominant faith across Khorvaire is the worship of the Sovereign Host (and to a lesser extent, the Dark Six) followed by the Church of the Silver Flame which is concentrated in Thrane.   Many in Karrnath follow the Blood of Vol, though opinions have shifted near the end of the war, with many returning to worshipping the Sovereign and rejecting Necromancy.   The Druids of the Eldeen Reaches practice their own worship of Eberron and the natural forces that guide everyone. The Elves of Valenar are split between the Undying Court and the Sovereign Host, with the younger Elves and Half-Elves leaning towards the latter.

Infrastructure

Khorvaire has a large, connected web of maintained roads throughout its central region and stretching as far as The Great Crag to the west, Zilargo to the asouth, and the Mror Holds to the east via Karrnath.   Additionally, House Orien has established Lightning Rail lines within the Five Nations and Zilargo, terminating in the east at Krona Peak. After the Mourning, the Lighting Rail lines through Cyre were annihilated and the House is desperate to find a way through the Mournland.

After the Last War

Since the Mourning ended the war in 994 YK, and the Treaty of Thronehold ratified the peace in 996 YK, tensions have fallen dramatically though no one nation has completely relaxed. Questions about the nature and cause of the Mourning, if it will happen again elsewhere or can be understood and weaponized, all linger in the minds many.   The new nations and territories carved out during the war are all trying to assert themselves on the nation's stage and struggle with questions of sovereignty and destiny. Other nations who lost land are struggling to let go or adjust to the new normal. The refugees of Cyre are desperate to turn the town of New Cyre into something reflecting their lost home and, eventually; uncover the meaning of the Mourning and reclaim their homeland.   Remaining neutral through the war, the Dragonmark Houses profited greatly from both the conflict and its aftermath because of the need for assistance re-restablishing lost infrastucture and resources. Now, they seek to expand their influence further with weaker and fractured nation states.

Stirring dangers

Trapped deep within Khorviare are several powerful forces scheming for their release: the Overlords and Daelkyrs, additinoally; the Dal Quor are rumored to have agents operating in Khorvaire. At any moment, Eberron is at threat from their return and the chaos and destruction of war serves as a great opportunity to put plan to motion. Many of the Cults of the Dragon Below have been caught enacting heinous acts in service of their dark masters.   Deep within the Mourning, the Lord of Blades, a mysterious and powerful Warforged warrior has been reported to be amassing an army or community of other Warforged. What their plans are is a mystery to all and only time will tell their intent.

Geography

Khorvaire is found in Eberron's northern hemisphere. It is bounded by the Bitter Sea to the north, the Lhazaar Sea to the east, the Barren Sea to the west and the Thunder Sea to the south.   The landscape of Khorvaire varies greatly, from wastelands and forbidding mountains in the north to deserts and jungles in the south, with everything in between.

Localized Phenomena

Manifest Zone of all planes can be found all over Khorvaire.   After The Last War the Kingdom of Cyre was destroyed by a powerful and unknown magical explosion called The Mourning. This has left Cyre, now called the Mournland, blanketed in a thick fog that utterly corrupts any life that enters. Only the Warforged seem resistant to its effect.

Fauna & Flora

Khorvaire has a wide variety of biomes including mountains, forests, plains, swamps, and desolate craggy volcanic regions. All manner of beasts make these environments home and many other monstrosities, fiends, and aberrations can be found in every nook and cranny or deep underground.

Natural Resources

The continent of Khorvaire is filled to abundance with arable land, fresh water sources, and mountains full of metals and gems.
