Shadow Rift

The Shadow Rift is a mysterious place, shrouded in perpetual darkness by the rolling Mists that keep out natural sunlight. The contrast between lush vegetation and winter wasteland depending on the time of year adds an intriguing dynamic to the environment. The fact that sunlight is deadly to the Arak adds a layer of danger and tension to the setting, emphasizing their vulnerability and the importance of the Mists in protecting them.   The diversity within the Arak , encompassing nine different races of fey aligned with either the Seelie Court or Unseelie Court , suggests a complex and intricate society. The influence of these different factions and their allegiance to the Law of Arak shapes the political landscape of the Shadow Rift, with competing agendas and power struggles between the Seelie Court and Unseelie Court.

Laws

Set by Arak the Erlking, the Law of Arak is the only law that the entirety of the Arak obey: Arak shall never cause the death of another of their kind. If one of the Arak is found guilty of breaking this law, the offender is utter abandoned by the rest of their kind, whom will never interact with the offender again. This punishment is called the Shunning. This law has been broken only once in the past 5,000 years, by Prince Loht in orchestrating the murder of Tristessa, with Jozell taking the blame and therefore the punishment.
"I decree, as your lord, that the time of suffering ends now. Henceforth, no Shadow Fey shall spill the blood of another of our kind, under penalty of banishment." - Arak the Erlking
