Aurils Love

Aurils Love is the grandest church of Auril, located in Rekadomoy. The church is one of the few structures dedicated to Auril found inside the civilized locations of Edarmyrni. It acts as the unofficial center of the Church of Auril on Skortenia, though considering the followers of Auril as a formal church is rather an over-exaggeration. Aurils Love recieves this designation more due to its exessive size in comparison to the smaller structures related to Auril, and its history within the region.

Purpose / Function

The church was built originally by a group of outcast worshippers of Auril through North Skortenia. They built the church to act as a re-interpretation of the traditional view on Aurils perception on the world. In turn, the building was constructed to show that the winter godess can be caring as well as scornful.

Some alterations were made recently by the current occupants.

Architecture

A series of long, pointed, icicle-like spires hang down above the entrance, with similar features going above the temple too. The building is made with a mixture of thatch and iceblocks for the walls and roof. The floor is a series of large whitestone blocks. Inside, the building is rather bare and lacking much in the way of furnishing or decoration.

History

Aurils Love was built initially as a safe haven for outcasts throughout the northern reaches of Skortenia, doubling as a church. They also attempted to show the potential care and nurture provided by the ice and snow Auril would bring to the world.
