Enkavma Lashing

Enkavma Lashing was the Kindler of Kishike from 995 to 1027. She was the first human to serve in the position since the early EL 300s.

Biography

Enkavma was born in a small hamlet very close to Windriver's Crossing called Bashhold. As a young adult she was an extreme martial arts enthusiast and at 17 began training at the Storm Sanctum, a monastery in the Jeltiri region of Verraway dedicated to the way of the four elements. While there, she discovered a strong devotion to Kishike in particular, and found she was much more drawn to the practice of divine magic than the use of ki. However, she has continued to practice hand-to-hand combat avidly even since leaving the monastery.   She returned to her family for about a year, making short journeys to nearby temples of Kishike as she tried to discern where she was called, and at 21 began her training as an acolyte in the Kishikean temple in Kilstonine. She is a forge domain cleric, and never took to wandering, instead preferring to spend her days at the temple meditating, smithing, and practicing her fighting. Also during her formation, she developed a keen interest in poetry.   She was named a priestess of Kishike in 972, and a cleric the following year, after a tremendous display of power when she was called to protect a nearby village being ravaged by marauders. She proved to be completely devoted to the tenets of the order and was named archcleric and presider of the largest Kishikean temple of Kilstonine in 986. She was quickly transferred to the temple in Prestir in the summer of the following year when a crisis of faith arose after a series of forest fires in the woods nearby, one of which razed a village to the ground, resulting in eleven deaths. Enkavma was reported to be a voice of peace and encouragement in these troubling times and greatly impressed all whom she met with her ardor. She was elected as Kindler in 995 after the death of the previous Kindler, Rudyard Westblossom, and since then, continent-wide interest in the way of the four elements has spiked, as well as hand-to-hand combat in general among Kishikean devotees.   Enkavma was Kindler during the Eventide and worked personally with First to transport and safeguard the Eternal Flame of Kishike after it had been recovered from the Elemental Plane of Water by the Light Brigade. Following the Eventide, she worked to address unrest and increase faith within the order, and named 1000 the Year of Zanmorn, after the hero of the Great Shadow who first lit the Pyre of Zanmorn at the beginning of the Era of Light. She marked the year with sermons and events surrounding the theme of indefatigability and unflagging faith.   Enkavma passed away ten hours after a massive stroke on 8 August 1027, and was succeeded by First of Storming Sky.
