Kiritch

"Don't you see? Not even I know what I want until the precise moment that I want it—it's a fine game of guessing to try to please me, and I should know, for I play it myself every day!"
Kiritch to the cleric Robe of Mist of clan Great Mountain

Kiritch, god of the tabaxi, was a wanderer and trickster from the very beginning, never able to keep his attention on one thing for very long, always looking ahead to a new fascination. He was greatly interested in the wild cats of the world, as they were more like him than any other mundane creature he had yet seen. He lived among them for some time on their island, which came to be known as Kiritchati, teaching them his tricks and sharing his stories. He came and went unpredictably, sometimes bringing some of them with him, which was how Talazic came to be populated by wild cats. In time, he formed the brightest among them into the tabaxi. He never became involved in any of the grander affairs of the Meydra, even after the Death of the Meydra, and it is said that he knows more doors between the planes and the Beyond than any other, even Na-Ima, and slips through those doors frequently to wander the world, taking a great variety of forms, though when nobody is around and he finds himself in the wilderness, he defaults to the form of a great cat.

Relationships

Kiritch's parents were Corinnis and Olanna, and his siblings Nenrë, Rakodah, and Wulozha. Very little is known about his relationships with them, and it is assumed they had little contact for the majority of the Age of the Meydra. It is unknown if he ever took a wife or had children.

Followers

Kiritch is usually simply referred to as the Cat Lord by the tabaxi, and has very few followers outside this race, and indeed few clerics even within the tabaxi.

Teachings

Kiritch was led very much by his own whimsy, and folk outside the tabaxi often have great difficulty finding meaning in his way of life. Scholars recognize value in the simplicity of his way, and his fascination with the world in general and willingness to learn. However, he was not much of a teacher, and even now does not make frequent contact with his followers, so the teachings of his order are more those of his clerics than of him. But those teachings place great emphasis on curiosity and independence.
