Shej

"I have no words for such deeds. I do think that's rather the point."
Haman Celterath, priest of Marosk

Shej is the goddess of chaos. For seemingly the entirety of the Age of the Meydra, she acted as an agent of bedlam, stirring up conflict between and among mortals and causing bouts of madness. She has never been known to be intentionally destructive, but many times her actions have led to terrible results. According to legend, she caused some of the most significant humanoid conflicts during the Age of the Meydra. Among those conflicts attributed to her are the Kzenldim Rebellion, the collapse of the Pales, and the fall of the Falerian Empire. Shej is portrayed as a woman with curly pale blue hair, wearing red, blue, and gold, with the Chaos Stone embedded in the center of her forehead.

Followers

Because of her core teachings, her followers tend to be fanatics and nomads, traveling around the continent and causing havoc wherever they go—generally with no explicit intent to harm, but always accepting of the possibility. A large number of them are mages.

Relationships

Shej had a daughter by Damakos, Brell, and a son by Marosk, Tegreshalask. Legend holds that Marosk was fascinated and tempted by her, though there are several drastically differing stories of how their relationship first began, as well as differing versions of the nature of it. She is generally believed to be capable of powerful enchantments, and was certainly the creator of one of the most dangerous artifacts in recorded history, which was used on Marosk.

The Chaos Stone

The Chaos Stone, also called the Eye of Shej, was a small red gemstone created by Shej for the purpose of driving Marosk mad. After he touched it, he suffered from an irrepressible tendency towards violence and mayhem, one that even Shej herself had trouble controlling. This continued for some time, to the delight and amusement of Meydra such as Damakos, as many good-aligned Meydra worked arduously to find a way to develop and administer a cure. In the end, Imennis was able to develop a ritual that broke the Stone's hold over Marosk, even though they could not obtain the Stone itself. Its location, if it even still exists, is unknown.
