Brell
"Imagine looking up, and seeing a blank sky, every single day, unchanging. It would be like not being able to dream. Do you see now what she's done for us?"
Brell is the goddess of weather. She felt constrained walking the earth, her eyes always on the sky above. Perhaps this was in part due to the instruction of her mother, Shej. However, she was not satisfied with the philosophy of chaos Shej championed, instead dreaming of creating a great force which could be a thing of great destructive power but also of peace and prosperity. She journeyed to the sea, took up the water she saw, and spun it into mist, with which she filled the sky. She taught it to move, to dance, to weep. For many years she did not descend back to the earth, simply teaching and fashioning the clouds. After the first thunderstorm, her father Damakos came to her for the very first time to entreat her help in the war he hoped to wage, but she refused him, wanting her creation to remain neutral. However, after this encounter she began to wonder just how what she had wrought really affected the world below, and so she descended, for the first time in a long time, to the Valley of the Meydra. Here she met Suvrik, whose sense of fairness and down-to-earth demeanor intrigued her. She spent the remainder of her life traveling back and forth between the sky and him. Brell is portrayed as a moon elf with winding patterns drawn on her skin, clad in storm clouds.
Relationships
Brell's parents were Shej and Damakos, and her half-brother was Tegreshalask, although she was not close to any of them. Her husband was Suvrik, and their children Tirinasi and Uskad. She is thought to have been a distant mother, both literally and figuratively. However, Brell and Suvrik, late in the Age of the Meydra, adopted four young orphans, imbuing them with incredible power. They now rule over the plane of Arcadia as the Storm Kings.
There was a time when Brell had a partnership with Dagmar to irrigate the world, but this came to an end when Alaya introduced lakes and rivers to Ekaia.
Brell made an enemy of Kan Zul when she reversed a drought he caused. He visited retribution upon her by afflicting her with a curse that is to this day uncured, and leads to a complete lack of control once every century, causing a terrific storm somewhere in the world that generally lasts for several days and causes great destruction and mayhem.
Followers
Brell's clerics tend to keep to themselves, watching the skies and predicting the coming weather. They can be found in many small villages that rely heavily on farming. Their ideals are those of strength and dignity, with some sects placing emphasis on wild emotion. Priests wear grey and pale blue robes, while those endowed with special clerical powers are distinguished by vestments of rose. They have been known to frequently form partnerships with clerics of Lesh.
