Ophelia Orbeck
Queen of Kureta (a.k.a. The Golden Queen)
The current ruler of Kureta is Ophelia Orbeck. She is also known as 'The Gold Queen', not just for her love of everything golden, but for her good-natured heart.
Queen Ophelia is adored and respected by almost everybody. She has proven herself to be a worthy ruler, always putting the best interests of the people she rules at the forefront of her decrees.
Ophelia became queen at the age of 25, and has ruled Kureta for 27 years; ever since the passing of her mother, Queen Ama Orbeck.
She is the mother of 5 children, though only 4 through blood: Princess Irena Orbeck (24), Ursa Orbeck (24), Knight Princess Valkia Orbeck (20), Prince Armen Orbeck (17) and Princess Olwyn Orbeck (12).
Ophelia' first husband was an Elf from Erfu called Ral'Kaseer. Together they had the queen's first daughter - Princess Irena. Shortly after Irena was born, Kaseer passed away due to illness. Ophelia re-married a couple of years later, to a man called Thorton West. Thorton was a high-ranking officer in the Knights of the Shield, who had served the crown directly for many years. It was often rumoured that the two were somewhat of an item before Ral'Kaseer's passing. The remaining 3 royal children belong to Ophelia and Thorton, who are still together to this day.
As is customary to the royal family of Kureta, the Queen also has an adopted daughter called Ursa. Ursa was an orphan who was left at the orphanage as a baby. Tradition dictates that when a queen has her first daughter, she should adopt a female child at the same time to become the 'Princess-Adopté' - so that the pair may be raised and grow up together. The adopted child will help prepare the future queen for the duties she will face, by providing constant competition. It is believed that the greatest rulers are those who have always strived to be the best they can be. On rare occasions this tradition can be averted - when the queen births twin girls. In this instance, the oldest twin would be prepared to rule, with the younger twin providing the competition. The adopted child is raised and treated like any of the queen's other children, and as such will live an extravagant lifestyle. Once a new queen is coronated, the adopted daughter will often fall into the life of any other princess, but occasionally they may fall into an advisory role to the queen.
