The Ruined Castle

The heart of Flintolg, a once-immense stone castle now in a state of ruin. Its high walls and broken towers are slowly being overtaken by ivy and moss, though parts of the keep are still intact. The villagers use the castle’s remnants for shelter, trade, and communal gatherings. It is also rumored to hide ancient armaments and hidden chambers, though most dare not venture too deep into the castle’s ruins.

The Two Forests

Flintolg lies between the Blackwood Forest to the west and the Silverleaf Forest to the east. The Blackwood is dark and foreboding, home to dangerous wildlife and rumored to harbor long-forgotten creatures, while the Silverleaf is known for its shimmering trees and strange, magical aura, attracting druids and seekers of arcane knowledge.

The Clearing Market

The open space in front of the castle is used for a market where the village trades food, crafts, and artifacts recovered from the ruins. Merchants from surrounding villages, especially those with an interest in history and relics, come to Flintolg for its unique position and historical significance.

The Watcher’s Tower

A solitary tower, half-collapsed, that was once a part of the castle’s outer defenses. Now it serves as a lookout, offering views of both the surrounding forests and the castle ruins. Locals believe the tower has a spiritual significance, often used for meditation or solitary reflection.

The Ruin’s Edge

A small, rustic inn built against the outer wall of the ruined castle. The innkeeper, Benedict Harrow, is a retired soldier who once served in the castle before its fall. He serves hearty meals like roasted game and thick stews, and the tavern is a popular meeting place for adventurers and traders. It’s also a favored spot for storytelling, with tales of the castle’s past and the strange occurrences in the surrounding forests.
