The Gods of Eldris: Foreward

The Gods worshiped on Eldris number many, depending upon cultures, race, and region. However, they tend to be shadows of primary gods and a handful of minor divinities who came to be as a result of the natural course of the universe. - Dverwin Stonesinger

The Primary

There are four primary gods in our world, each governing a distinct element.

The First: Atlor

Atlor is the oldest of the four, referred to by his siblings as "The First". He holds power over the elements of the earth. Stone and metal bend to his whim as snow to gloved hands. It was he who shaped the heavenly bodies, the mountains, and the world upon which we stand. He is a logical being, but not devoid of creativity, who values the balance of all things. It was he who created the Dwarven race to guard his creation and protect the delicate balances of the creatures who lived upon it. We Dwarves shielded the young humans through dark times. Later, Atlor took several other wayward races who were in need of protection under his wing. The goblins, bluebells, and so forth you find deep in our domains, Fae in origin, but cast out by their own kind, were welcomed into his sheltering halls.

The Second: Ifira

Ifira is the second oldest, referred to as "The Second". She holds power over the elements of fire. Lava flows and fires rage in her wake. She has a short attention span and shorter temper. It was she who created the fires burning in the heavens, and the molten rock churning in the core of Eldris. She is a cruel being, searching for her own amusement. In the face of humanity, she stole away children from their mothers to twist them to the very core, corrupting their very souls with her flame. Failed experiments became what humans refer to as fire spirits, will-o-the-wisp and other burning souls seeking a body to inhabit. Those unfortunate survivors eventually were cross bred with twisted abominations born twisted in the womb. Today, we have Kindlings, while not as twisted, they are still cursed creatures who enjoy trickery and backstabbing. She has adopted chaotic and twisted races as her own.

The Third: Hecatl

Hecatl is referred to as "The Third". He holds power over the winds. He sings the songs of gentle breezes to rising crescendo of a vortex, Hecatl is laid back and lazy. He himself acknowledges this with pride, content to drift on his own currents. His lackadaisical attitude attracted the attention of enough humans to create the largest diversion of the blood lines of the gods. He is responsible for the accidental creation of the Fae and Elves, luring them to areas highly concentrated in the planet's natural aytheric concentrations, placid pools of magic and spiritual energy, which has odd effects on creatures. The oddest one, in my opinion, are Fae Dragons, annoying little beasts.

The Fourth: La'Lorana

La'Lorana is referred to as "The Fourth" and the youngest of the primary. She holds power over water. She dances to the twisting flow of a gently trickling stream, crashing waves, drifting snow, and crashing towers of ice. She is a temperamental being, but not so much as her opposite, Ifira. Her curiosity does not lead to such wild experimentation as Ifira, but when faced with being rejected, she loses her temper like a sudden storm on the sea. She has foisted her 'blessings' upon hapless victims who rejected her offerings. Merfolk are among these unfortunate souls, where as the orcs two branches are from a mix of natural evolution and her interference. She presides over the races of the water.

The Twins: Myrada and Amynd

Myrada and Amynd are referred to as "The Twins". While they were not created when the Primary were, they hold a place among them. Their role over the cycle of life and death began as one being, who's name I cannot recall. Alas, it matters not, as the Four eased the pain they had caused by splitting the god into Myrada and Amynd. They favor humans, who return their love only to Myrada. Amynd does not seem to mind this, for he does have his own followings among each of the races. While their duties and domains may seem clear cut to all of us, they are actually rather skewed. They have an uncanny habit of interfering with births and deaths in the manner of certain people surviving when they should not. These people have a unique affinity for Death there on, able to see when someone will die and prevent it. They are the most caring of the gods, unconditionally loving every living thing.

The Secondary

The Secondary are gods born of the natural evolution of the world, unexpected by the Primary, but welcomed none the less.

Terra

Terra is the first of the Secondary to be discovered, a product of the mixing power of the four elements. Many mistake her as a deity of the trees and plant life, however, she is a shepherdess of all the natural life on the world. She is the mother of life, big and small, content to watch her children and provide care for them. She is a naturally nurturing being and the reason Dwarves gained their sentience and flesh. Few worship her now, but that does not diminish her power or role in the worlds. The Fae in particular worship her. While she holds no favorites, we do suspect that she has a soft spot for the tree folk, the Dryad and Treants.

Vertex

Vertex is the second of the Secondary to be discovered, a product of air, water, and fire. She is Terra's opposite, the god of life in the atmospheres. She is bringer of storms and air currents. She is not quite as lazy as her 'father', some days drifting along easily, others ushering storms along in the skies. She has many 'spirits' under her command, shards of her own power which direct the air currents around the world, giving her more time to drift. She is worshiped by those who are influenced by her might, such as the orcs and flying creatures. She is fond of the gifts she receives, but generally does not go out of her way to punish mortals for not leaving offerings or spurning her.

Pela

Pela is the third of the Secondary to be discovered, a product of fire and earth. He is the lord of the currents that flow deep within the bowels of planets. His discovery was explosive to say the least, in the form of a volcano erupting. In his early form, he struggled to gain control of his power. He is the hardest working of the gods, keeping the magma flows in check to prevent chaotic eruptions, despite the planet keeping this naturally in control. He has eased up after centuries of it, realizing that he does not need to work quite that hard. Thankfully, he only has a little bit of the malice that Ifira shows. He is feared more than worshiped.

Sela

Sela is the last of the Secondary to be discovered, product of air and water. He is the king of ice and snow, a solitary creature dwelling in the arctics of the world. His discovery was pure chance and the inspiration behind dragons. He takes the form of a massive serpent coiled in the waters surrounding the world. There is a myth of Sela biting his tail and releasing it means the doom of the world, pure myth. Sela only bites his own tail when he deigns to sleep, since a twitch once caused a glacier to break from an ice shelf and caused a... let's say mild temper tantrum from La'Lorana. He is a quiet god, content to be alone. But if you ever meet him... Have tea ready and prepare to have your ear talked off.

The Tertiary

The tetiary are gods who were born long after the First and Secondary. There are quite a few, though they are existing gods under different names or not real at all. I will not go into these minor "deities", except to note that the two Lunis and Solara are Amynd and Myrada. Humans associate the celestial cycle with life and death, Myrada being Solara and Amynd being Lunis.
