Session 2.31
General Summary
Looking to explore the rest of the Amethyst Isle, the party finds themselves on the northwestern region of the Island, where, in the Correlan Desert they sought out the Solpit. Delving into the abandoned coal mine and its abyss and reaching the bottom about 1200ft or so down Rhorn had accidentally unearthed a transparent celestial rock, however, in doing so a fire elemental had appeared in an attempt to seemingly drive the party out of the area.
The encounter didn’t start out promisingly as the group was charred by the fiery spirit causing them to reconsider their purpose there, and promptly made their way towards the pit’s exit. After a series of attacks made in self defense on the elemental the party had began to witness strands of fire coming off of the creature with each successful hit. These wisps of fire, instead of fizzling out or dissipating into the ether, were instead being sucked back into the celestial rock at the bottom of the pit.
At the conclusion of the battle, the party noticed the fire energy now trapped in the celestial rock getting brighter and brighter, and appeared to be forming something. Priestess Luna, who happened to be fetching Rhorn’s hand axe in the vicinity of the celestial rock, was the first member of the party who decided to investigate. Upon closer inspection the wisps of fire had manifested itself into a katana with a flaming blade. Furthermore, the process ended up shattering the rock. With a new sword now in their posession the group made the trek back up to the surface, where they met back up with Prince Renwick and Zhorn.
While exploring Laknere, and the Solpit, back in Cerelia, Zhorn was taken by Master Aberemere into a secluded forest clearing where he was interested in learning how Zhorn was dealing with the newfound responsibility bestowed upon him. However, during this exchange Master Aberemere came to the realization that Zhorn was not informed about how Lord Luthien and his predecessors had been heading to the Gramoral for about a week once every year, and had been engaging in some sort of ritual that they believe helped halt or at the very least slow the spread of the Shadow Blight. Zhorn had taken this information with a mix of curiosity and confusion and headed Northwest to meet back up with his allies.
With the party back together again, the group continued north to the final unexplored point of interest, Thresham, an older abandoned human village that Prince Renwick said was as old as Gramoral. Upon arriving the party found that about 75% of the town was buried under the white sands of the Correlan Desert and furthermore the shoreline was about a mile away. However, the most interesting discovery made was by Zhorn who had unearthed a still intact 50ft long ship that had listed over while at port, and was buried underneath the sand.
Having officially completed the tour around the island, the party decided to head back to Hearthendell and the Amethyst keep to debrief. However, their first first stop was to debrief with Master Everen:
He had confirmed what Master Aberemere had told Zhorn with regards to Lord Luthien, Gramoral, and the King's responsibility. However, he added that only a select few people on the island knew of what the Wood Elf Kings did, but Lord Luthien never divulged what exactly it was he did while in the City of Blight.
Furthermore, Lord Everen mentioned that although there have been hypotheses made by some of the elven scholars on the island about the celestial meteorites helping stave off the Blight, their research has stalled by the fact that they have not been able to locate any of the meteorites.
Rhorn returned back to the keep to tell the Council about the discovery of a usable boat in Thresham, and to muster any able bodies to assist with the recovery and transportation of the ship to the sea.
