3 Earthsway 4520: Confluence - Shopping and Katya's return

Arkomir writes...   After breakfast we wait for Amdrom and head off to trade some gems. In our room we get Amdrom to look at the gems we would like to trade. He thinks we have some nice pieces and depending on how we negotiate we might get up to 50-55% of the expected cost. We head down to The Spectacular Eye to start that process. Roge Silvereyes runs the store and he greets us. We share some of our story and then start the process with a pearl and an opal. In the course of the trade, we arrange a job for Amdrom as well. He offers us 2000 for a bunch of the gems. We ask for places that might sell potions etc. and he recommends the academy, some temples and Fendritraves Arcanum. We settle up, wave goodbye to Amdrom and head to the Arcanum.   On our way to this new shop, we buy a whetstone for Dharra, the two Corellon books for me (at the Good Word) amd some food as we walk to our next stop. Zelki & Jenny also tell us the names of the ladies that run the arcanum, Gelatra Fenditrave and Olivia Longriver.   At the arcanum, we make our way into the shop. We are greeted by Olivia and make ourselves known to her. We lay out the list of things we are after but to get the good stuff we will need a letter of introduction from the Academy. She shows us some items that we might like, including some scrolls. At that point Galatra shows up and offers to help Dharra with some scrolls. We show her the book from the Red Laquered Chest as well and she tells us it is the spell book of Madrus, a graduate of the academy. This is perhaps his second or third spell book and an interesting collection of 3rd or 4th level spells, mostlt transmutation and charms. We purchase Potion of Healing x 5 and Potion of Greater Healing x 3. We ask about what sort of damage is best against undead creatures and one thing is universally true, damage done from a divine source.   We head to the Crown to trade in our promissory note at the bank. As we pass through the electors plaza, we see a small contingent of dwarves come out of Moradin’s Temple. The main dwarf in the centre is covered in furs and armour and has five or so guards around him. The number of guards is wrong according to Dharra, it should be 4 or 8, not 5. Dharra wanders over to talk to them. They have come from Stoneshadow, and all seemed well when they were there. Dharra talks about Skotgrida and shows this dwarf the button she gave us. They appear to have lost 3 of their number on the road. We arrive at the bank and exchange our promissory note and receive our gold.   From here we make our way to the Westmarch wardens office. We hand our note to the guard sergeant in the hopes that it will grant us some access to a library or two. He asks us to follow him and heads upstairs to a small balcony overlooking the training yard. He disappears through a door for a bit before coming back followed by a fit looking female tiefling of middle age. She is the Warden in Charge, Ella Figgis. We tell our story and she seems ok with it so she will arrange access for us into the Electors Library. We receive a letter of introduction for the Electors Keep and the Library. We then admit to murder, but manage to talk our way out of it - just.   We leave and head to the Stoneway and Moradin’s Beard. We make pretty good time and get our first look at Sweetwater Heights. There are large opulent homes, selective businesses, people in carriages and with bodyguards and is quite an expensive and nice part of town. We head out through one of the main gates of Confluence that leads to the Stoneway. In the area is a high proportion of dwarves but a smattering of other races as well. We find our way through the sights, sounds and smells of this very dwarven enclave and make our way to Moradin’s Beard. There is a group of three dwarven bards playing and we find a spot to sit quite close by so Dharra can watch. We organise ourselves some drinks and settle in for some good craic. As we are organising a list of things to research tomorrow a Dwarf comes and sits at our table. It is Datevar, the dwarf we helped outside The Lively Grotto. He hands me a key and says there is a friend waiting to see me in Room 6. I leave Dharra and Datevar to have a chat and head upstairs. I open the door and Katya is here.   She moves in to kiss me, but I step back. I ask her why she is here. She is in some trouble and needs my help. Pharom did not die and he has been able to influence the council of Mol Gentra. He is hunting Katya down and she appears to be next on his list. Pharom has managed to convince certain factions that half elves need to be driven out of @Foresthome. His ultimate plan is to bring purity back to Foresthome and then retake the North. I tell Katya to lie low for a couple of days while Dharra and I finish our business in Confluence. I will need to clear all of this with Dharra first, but maybe Katya can travel with us back toward Belhaim. I head back downstairs, give the key back to Datevar and sit and wait for Dharra to be done with the tavern, lost in my thoughts.   We pay for our drinks and head back out to The Lively Grotto. I don’t spend any time in the tavern but head straight to our room. Dharra follows along behind and we finally reach our room. I lay out what Katya told me and what our next move may be. Dharra casts tiny hut to keep us safe in our room and then casts The Cleansing Wave symbol to guide us whilst we sleep. Eventually we get to sleep.
