Alani Collias was born Alani Rachiden, a halfbreed daughter of the house's head in the Kingdom of Alsona. She was educated in the affairs of the banking house, and remained close as an accountant and servitor of the family, but yearned for something more. Her younger brother, Ferghus, introduced her to a comrade of his with the Alsonan Rangers in 1020, an older man who had gained a reputation among the Rangers as incorruptible and stalwart. He had just entered into retirement with the Rangers, but fate had intervened. Shortly after Alani and Peter began courting, Peter was called upon to aid his old hometown from the corruption of his brother. Peter's quest was successful, and Alani drawn somewhat into it. They were married in the town, which welcomed its new Lady.
Since Potamipoli was reclaimed by Peter Collias, Alani has been somewhat unwelcome among the upper classes, despite her heritage, due to her halfbreed blood. Although some of her children pass as full humans, they have been rarely welcomed into wide society. She continues to labor on as a dutiful wife and mother, but Peter's age has begun to show, while his wife still has some vitality left in her due to the elven blood. Her presence in the court has caused numerous rumors to abound, and some make allegations of Peter having an affair, while others claim that Alani has caused a new corruption to arise in the House Collias.
