Charles Parrish

Lord Charles Parrish

Charles Parrish was born to his family as the only child of one of the few noble lineages in the Sypi Confederacy. Choosing to forego naming him with a name of tribal ancestry, his parents instead chose to embrace the naming patterns of the Church of the One Sun and its teachings. They hired the best tutors they could from the more civilized, in their minds, states of Losana and Forard, importing them for the betterment of their child's mind. In this, they initially seemed to have failed.   Charles disliked the structured ways and means of the aristocracy and the nobility in general, and found the ways of the Civilized Lands to be restraining and judgmental. He instead found his niche around the Mineter Tribe and their hunters and gatherers that would frequently roam the lands outside of Grenadd. He learned how to hunt and various other skills, which served him well as he embraced the tribal lifestyle whenever possible, though his parents frequently dragged him back to court for his lessons.   The death of his mother and father under mysterious circumstances in 1018 led to Charles taking over the title of Lord of Grenadd far earlier than he had anticipated. He continued to live his rather hedonistic lifestyle avoiding the concerns of rule or delegating it to his staff. In 1020, the course of his future changed, as a band of adventurers working for Quico Bienombe brought a werewolf infestation to his attention. He provided full resources to the adventurers and their efforts, and even posed as a humble guardsman to join the expedition to fight. In the fight that occurred, they defeated the werewolves, but Charles Parrish was bitten, along with numerous other guards.    Leave was granted to the guards who had been bitten by werewolves, and many of them eventually resettled in the far northern town of Wessonton, keeping away from more civilized regions to avoid injuring the innocent. Unwilling to leave behind his newfound responsibility for his people, Charles made his own arrangements to keep himself contained on nights of the full moon. The outbreak of the civil war made this effort difficult, but he pledged the full support of the town against the rebels of the Sihka Tribe. He even led the defense of Grenadd himself, and held the line, even when his own people rose in rebellion against him. He eventually wed one of the guards who remained loyal, and they have since begun growing their family as they seek to repair the rifts and damages left by the war.
