House Salira
House Salira is one of the seven ruling demonkin families of the Kingdom of Populres. It has also managed to elevate itself among its peers by becoming the current royal house of the kingdom. The Saliras rule the kingdom from their citadel in the city of Druksgrad. They have managed to keep the peace among the rival houses by becoming the simply most powerful of the rest, outmaneuvering those opponents who would see them ousted from power.
Structure
House Salira is organized with a strong leader at the top, usually the most powerful spellcaster within the organization. Despite being referred to as a noble house, Kyakas is an assembly of smaller families and clans within the larger house. They all remain aligned, and all pay homage to whichever spell caster is in charge. The head of the house is determined by duels and challenges, like those of the dragonkin and orcs, but with more of an emphasis on the humiliation of your opponent, rather than their death. Death is considered the least reputable way to end such a duel, and it is forbidden within the house to permanently remove a rival, although a defeated duelist is barred from further advancement and typically finds themselves at the lowest rung of the ladder for the rest of their lives, though many prefer suicide to such a fate.
Public Agenda
House Salira's public face is that they call for peace between the seven houses, and they often act as a mediator when any of the groups enters into a feud. They only step in if it looks as though the bickering between houses could turn into violence, choosing to allow any other forms of dispute be handled traditionally. They also have advocated for continued standardization of the military clans and reformation into regiments similar to Jakonian lines, but have agreed to undertake these measures carefully, respecting the traditions of the dragonkin and orcs.
Assets
House Salira is the only of the seven houses to possess a regiment organized like those of the south, rather than the military force of the clans. The regiment is well drilled and trained, and consists of primarily demonkin and dragonkin, with only a handful of orcs and goblins admitted. Those admitted are only those who have shown exemplary intelligence or cunning. The Salira Regiment is believed to be one of the most powerful in terms of engineers and spellcasters in Emicara. This powerhouse military force is the greatest asset at Salira's disposal, the final say in numerous battles and disputes. The wealth of Druksgrad only contributes further towards Salira's dominating position within the society of Populres, as the taxes and slaves that come into the city fuel the growth of the house's military power.
