House Zherlius
House Zherlius is one of the seven demonkin houses that rules the Kingdom of Populres. They control the settlement of Dral's Hold, the only naval base and fortification belonging to the monstrous kingdom. House Zherlius is best known for their militaristic and aggressive outlook, calling for raids similar to those of the Bahami Federation and waging a constant low level war against the shipping of House Kyakas and the Kingdom of Recfrere.
Structure
House Zherlius is organized upon a familial and strictly hierarchal structure. The eldest in the family are considered to be the leaders, and assassination to advance through the ranks of the House is rare, but not unheard of. Instead, most seek out glory and fame through deeds in warfare. All of the leaders of Dral's Hold and subordinate locations are members of House Zherlius, while nearly every warship and vessel at their command are captained by members of the family. Nepotism is the rule of the day for House Zherlius, as they only in the rarest of circumstances allow a outsider to enter into the ranks of their power.
Public Agenda
House Zherlius is the most xenophobic of houses in the Kingdom of Populres. While most of the noble houses agree on a unified front against the undead menace to the north, the leaders of Zherlius have taken a different approach. They call for raids and conquest of the weaker lands to the south, and renewed war against the Kingdom of Recfrere. They believe that the only way to defeat the undead hordes is to bring the nations of the so-called Civilized Lands to heel, and force them to bring their armies to the north for a unified front. They have advocated that the only way to defeat the abominations of the north is through mass enslaved armies to equal the enemy in size.
Assets
The greatest asset of House Zherlius besides Dral's Hold itself is the possession of the professional navy of the Kingdom of Populres. House Zherlius has a monopoly on the creation of dedicated warships and naval policy out of all of the demonkin houses. They have been able to exploit this for extorting tax income from the other houses to help build up the fortifications of the hold and the power of the fleet. They control the only largescale shipyards of the nation, and refuse to relinquish any control of nautical matters, constantly bringing them into conflict with House Kyakas.
