A list of unique and rare materials found on the continent including uses and where they're found. Listed below in alphabetical order.
Description: Adamant (its name in ore form) is a glossy black metal, and reflects rainbows. In its finished form, adamantine metal reflects a clear green sheen under candlelight, and purple-white under magical light.
Properties: it is extremely hard and once set cannot be bent or deformed through any known mundane methods. It weighs as much as steel, and is ferromagnetic as well.
Uses: Weapons, Armor
Rarity: Pure raw adamant can only be found in spheres trapped within solidified lava flows, where it must be processed to produce adamantine metal. The Dwarves of Nuraeven Kingdom are the only ones with the secrets of how to forge the metal and guard it closely.
Description: bioluminescent coral that comes in every color and shade imaginable
Properties: when dried it becomes hard as stone, but mysteriously maintains its glowing qualities.
Uses: Decorations, luminescent dyes and paints
Rarity: Can only be bought in Sanorio and the traders who bring it in refuse to tell anyone where they obtain it. Corals can range in price from 500g to 35,000g depending on size, color, and demand
Description: Raw it looks like a black ore with small violet crystalline formations, when worked into a shape it can appear solid black or with violet striations.
Properties: Seems to absorb the light around it, making it hard to see and near invisible in the dark, and nearly indestructible
Uses:
Rarity: Only found deep within the Underdark. The Dwarves of Nuraeven Kingdom are the only ones with the secrets of how to forge the metal.
Description: Raw it looks like a black ore with small red crystalline formations, when worked into a shape it can appear black or a marbled black and red.
Properties: With any amount of magic flowing into it the metal emits heat and glows red, if enough magic is used the metal will engulf in magical flames. Requires a heat source to shape that cannot be reproduced by mundane means as the malleable temperature is near 3000° F
Uses: Heat source, Light source, weapons, armor
Rarity: Only found deep within the Underdark near lava tubes or lakes. The Dwarves of Nuraeven Kingdom are the only ones with the secrets of how to forge the metal.
Description: Raw it looks like a black ore with small bluish white crystalline formations, when worked into a shape it can appear black or a marbled black, blue, and white.
Properties: With any amount of magic flowing into it the metal emits cold and glows bluish white, if enough magic is used the metal will freeze the water in the air around it making it appear to snow. Requires a magic water source that cannot freeze to shape that cannot be reproduced by mundane means as the malleable temperature is near -200° F
Uses: Cold Source, Light Source, Weapons, Armor
Rarity: Only found deep within the Underdark near the Frostfang Mountains inside glacial flows. The Dwarves of Nuraeven Kingdom are the only ones with the secrets of how to forge the metal.
Description: Wood with a bluish grey color
Properties: As strong as steel and as light as balsa wood, strong enough to even make a sword
Uses: Jewelry, Weapons, Armor, Ornaments, Tools
Rarity: The Elves are the only ones with knowledge of how to work the wood, and so it is rare to see it in the hands of a non elf. Harvested from fallen ancient Treants however they will only harvest from those that have naturally passed on. If their death is under any other circumstances they believe the wood to be cursed if it is taken from the body.
Description: A glistening silvery metal.
Properties: Stronger than steel and weighs half as much making it popular for armor. Mithral also holds and conducts magic easily and is sought in the production of magic items.
Uses: Weapons, Armor, Jewelry
Rarity: Found in deep in the earth and Underdark it is hard to come by and the Elves and Dwarves are the only that know the techniques for smithing with it.
Description: Reddish gold colored metal
Properties: Lighter and stronger than Mithral and even better for magical enhancements as it can hold a large amount of magic
Uses: Weapons, Armor, Decoration, Arcane Technologies
Rarity: Introduced to the world by the lost city of Nova the metal has since become much harder to find. Only master level craftsmen have the knowledge and are capable of smithing with this metal.
Description: A bluish green translucent crystal, texture and look similar to obsidian.
Properties: Harder than steel even in sheets as thin as parchment, however inflexible. Nearly invisible underwater and nullifies any drag from water. When magic is imbued in the crystal it gives off a white glow used for lighting in many underwater settlements. Can only be shaped and molded under intense water pressure otherwise it will break. Can create cuts so small that are difficult to tell the damage from the outside and mend through traditional methods.
Uses: Light sources, tools, weapons, ornaments
Rarity: Found in only the deepest trenches of the water unsuitable to land dwelling creatures explorations. Goods produced in only 3 known places, Merfolk territory in Lamina, Sea Elf tribes of Taur-na-Chardhîn, and the Nerrocen Tribe of Gatbury Lake, and it is only commercially sold in Lakeshore. A simple dagger made of Sea Glass can cost 1000G.
