Military action

Tia and her peers are assessed for military recruitment. They have their magic, physical and combative skills tested in a large, public event which most in the capital attends. Tia is overwhelmed with the difference between herself and the other heirs.

Tia attends the very public event of assessments. It is held in the colosseum in the capital and many of the nobility watch to measure the power balance between the different houses. The other heirs do extraordinarily well, having trained for this their entire lives. Tia observes with Albert as Andrea Stahlmann, Euan and Ifani Brandt complete their assessments before being called forward herself. She does moderately alright, given she has had only weeks to train and get herself in shape. She still takes a devastating blow during combat to her own distress. After her assessment, she also meets Orin Philippe for the first time but misses opportunity to meet Ifani. Ambrose and Ghislaine also catch Duff observing, confirming that the one they are looking for is among these recruits.
